Popular prop master for a number of big films and television series, Scott Getzinger was killed Friday night in a head-on collision in Stamford, Conn, when his truck was struck by a car driven by an 18-year-old. Getzinger’s credits include Shutter Island, Salt, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, and such upcoming films as The Dark Knight Rises and Men In Black III. He was also the property master on Showtime’s series pilot Masters & Johnson and AMC’s Rubicon.

Nicest guy in the world. What a shame and a loss. He was so talented, hard working, intelligent, and kind. I hope he’s at peace and my thoughts are with his family.
We love you and we miss you Scott.
love j&b
OMG Scott was the greatest person, so so sad, Just yesterday saw a post of his on F B and thought I really need to see Scott again, we worked together many times in the early years, I’m in shock, my thoughts to the family.
I didn’t know him well, but had the opportunity to work with him on a few projects. He was always a really nice guy – and not everyone in this industry is. It’s very sad. My sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends.
Didn’t know Scott personally, but, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Movie & tv fans sometimes forget those who help put shows together. I’m sure he was a good propmaster. All the best to his family & may he rest in peace.
What is weird is that the news here (in CT) said that he had multiple broken bones, conscious after being cut out of the truck he was in, and his injuries were NOT life threatening.
Another spoiled kid with too much car, too much speed, and too much confidence.
What a gunty thing to write, Mark.
Taking shots at the deceased on an entertainment website.
Your family must be proud.
I think he was referring to the 18 year old kid who killed him as the “spoiled kid.”
Mark E. Mark, he was taking a shot at the 18 year old who plowed into Scott. Not Scott himself.
Could be wrong but I think he was talking about the 18 year old driver..
He wasn’t very clear about it, but I think Mark was referring to the 18 year-old kid that hit Scott, not Scott. At least I hope he was.
Mark, you are shameful! Before you make assumptions you should read the whole story. His car was hit head on by a car that spun and flipped out of control on the opposite side of the parkway and landed directly in front of him. You, Mark, are the brat.
It wasn’t his fault, he got hit by another car.
You’re an idiot, Mark.
That photo was taken in CT on the last Indiana Jones film. Scott was a great guy. My condolences to his family.
A truly, truly great guy and a class act… I was fortunate enough to work with him a few times and he will sorely be missed.
I worked on a movie with Scott. Such a nice guy. This is really terrible.
Scott was one of the good guys. Always had a witty thing to say and one of the nicest and hardest working people I knew. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Scott you will be missed.
If that young driver was drunk or texting, I hope he/she is charged with murder.
Scott was a fantastic person and one of the true heroes on the movie set, a guy who was not only reliable and hard working, but a genuine good person, a guy you looked forward to seeing and working with every day. I worked with Scott on Barbed Wire and a few other films, and he was one of the nicest people I’ve ever met, and my heart goes out to his family and to everyone in the film community who knew and loved him.
Only got to work with Scott a couple times, but was impressed by how thoughtful and considerate he was. He will be missed. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family.
I have happy memories of working with Scott on The Patriot. He was always cheerful, hard-working, and utterly professional. He was one of the people that made working on my first big feature a positive experience. One of the best of the best. This is so sad. I was very shocked to hear about his passing. Prayers for his family for sure.
A trust has been set up to assist Scott’s three young children. If interested, please contact cmcguinness@preod.com for more information. Thanks.
I worked with Scott on Men In Black III and Dark Knight – he was very kind to me – he was kind to everyone and I’m very sorry to hear this happened – his children should know their father was a very kind and respected man.
Thank you, everyone, for your kind thoughts about my husband, our children’s Dad. They are comforting during this tragic time. Our children will cherish your kind words about their Dad for many years to come.
