Sources claim this is the 8th senior talent agent to leave or be exited from Paradigm in the past two years and that the tenpercentery has decided not to replace them with senior reps. Here’s why: “We have a great core of young agents in the talent department handling young clients. We are grooming what we think is a tremendous next generation of young talent agents by internally promoting them,” an insider tells me. Then again, like all the Hollywood agencies, Paradigm is looking to trim overhead.

A wise business decision, in my opinion. They learned their lesson attempting to by senior agents and their lists and it didn’t work. Kudos for learning from their mistakes. Besides, financially speaking, big name talent can often be a losing proposition. The only time it really makes sense to sign them, in my opinion, is when they’re being used as window dressing for the sake of attracting lucrative corporate contracts and opportunities to participate in PE/VC/M&A deals (like CAA and WME).
Hollywood isn’t minting any new “$20m/pic” stars these days, it’s just too expensive.

FOUR agencies run this town!!!! Paradigm isn’t one of them. Perhaps in the next 3-5 years the power may be shared but for now it’s like the banking industry in the US, 4 big banks and everyone else can suck on it. In Hollywood it’s the same thing. Gersh, Paradigm, APA and many others used to have a some pop, juice if you will it’s OVER and you can take that to one of the Big Banks.

The reality is that the Gores bros are the cheapest mo-fo’s in the entire business and have not helped Paradigm one bit. They are the Clippers of LA (think last season) agencies – its sad.
It’s understandable. Just look at ICM post-Rizvi. Being run by a PE fund means being run on the cheap; that’s what they do.

Agency makes it very clear, over 18, stay clear. Beware, anyone over 18, you don’t have a chance with Paradigm… no matter how talented you are. Over 20, 30, 40? Someone who STARTS an agency now, looking for the over 30… you’re guaranteed to SUCCEED! Why? The biggest audience with the most bucks with the most leisure time ready to spend those bucks are sick of ‘young.’
