I’m actually really excited for this. The first season was flawed but had a lot of cool over the top moments that worked. No surprise season 2 starts a month before the Emmys, Starz is definitely fishing for that after Grammer won the Globe.
It will be cancelled at the end of the season once people realize what a dull boring waste of time the show is.
Loved the pilot, very smart and muscular stuff, but then the show became needlessly, unsustainably, and implausibly dark (i.e. the mayor’s adversaries getting whatingcked left and right as a substitute for more nuanced and believable story turns). And the cable nudity seemed almost comically gratuitous, real “Hitchhiker” stuff. So I dunno, kinda crashed and burned for me, at the same time that “Homeland” was showing the right way to roll stuff out. But Kelsey was great (if a bit overwrought), so I’ll probably give season 2 a look….
Agreed on everything. Such a strong start, and I loved Gus Van Sant’s style, but it got so dreary as the season dragged on. Like what he did to his daughter made sense but still came out of nowhere. Still, Kelsey Grammar was phenomenal, so I’ll give it a shot again, too.
