EXCLUSIVE: There is a change afoot at the helm of the CW’s veteran drama series Supernatural. Sera Gamble, who has been with the show since the beginning, serving as co-showrunner alongside Robert Singer for the past two seasons, will be stepping down. Word is that she opted not to renew her contract to focus on development. Jeremy Carver, executive producer/co-showrunner of Syfy’s Being Human, is joining Supernatural as an executive producer and will co-run the series with Singer next season. The CW has not made any formal renewal decisions yet but Supernatural is one of the network’s stronger ratings performers and is fully expected to return in the fall. This marks Carver’s return to Supernatural where he served as a co-producer during the 2009-10 season before leaving to co-run with his wife Anna Fricke Syfy’s Being Human, which the two wrote together based on the British show. UTA-repped Carver will keep his executive producer credit on Being Human, which will now be run solo by Fricke, making them a rare couple of writer-producers showrunning two series at the same time. Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, who stepped down as the day-to-day showrunner after the show’s sixth season in 2010 when Gamble and Singer took over, remains an executive consultant.

Completely agree with you,,, Sera’s season 6 was a crap,,, and that lisa-ben thing was just nonsense…. Im so glad that she will ne gone,… Hope she would never return,,,, finally the show will be back on track,,,, the winchesters brothers Dean & Sam and their brotherly bond…i just cant get enough of it
Why is this “Trouble” (the tag)? I’m glad Sera Gamble is leaving, because in the span of two seasons she has made tons of missteps (no continuous story line, killing off of two popular characters – - thank heaven they are back), alienating fans, etc). The ratings have suffered. The best thing that could have happened to this series is Sera leaving and Jeremy coming back on board. Sera is a good writer, but she simply could not handle running the show. As for CW, if they don’t renew the show for an eighth season, they are fools. It’s still their best show. Age is not a bad thing.
Jeremy Carver wrote some of the best brotherly episodes. I hope he can bring back the heart of the show aka the brotherly bond(hope he brings back the amulet too!!!). Then again, Sera might have been an awful showrunner, but she has written some of the best episodes in SN.
I hope Jeremy is not “hit” by the SG syndrome(=good writer, lousy showrunner).
I don’t normally comment on stuff, but I just don’t understand why people think anyone cares about their opinions of a television show. If you don’t like the show, don’t watch it. Stop wasting your time complaining about television shows on a a website comment board. Read a book, learn how to play the guitar, or go into politics. Do something positive with your time, rather than insulting people who are working to create something entertaining for others. Contrary to what you may think, your opinion does not matter. You will grow old, and you will die, and the world will not be affected. Just like the rest of us. There are plenty of other channels to watch on Friday nights.
I’m not a fan of Sera but I wish her well
In her endeavours
I was never liked this kind of plot, because of my religion believes, but after losing my job in February 2012, I saw few episodes that got me curious to watch the series. I loved it so much that I became a fan more. But it seems that I came a bit to late, here in NY, TNT television is who has the series, but just today they gave the last episode of season 6. And so I’m left dry asking for more. (BTW I hate the first person who said that Cas and Bobby are dead lol)
Netflix only has seasons 1 through 6, and I have not found where to continue to watch season 7, and I’m pulling hairs. If anyone knows where or how I can watch the season 7, pleaseeeee let me know.
At least I’m glad that comes a season 8. @ Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles the rest of production and the cast members of the number 1 TV show, great work, congratulations, and please continue making great TV. thanks I’m so excited it’s going to continue!!
i am glad we are going to get someone new takein over even though jeremy has written on the show before he hasnt been showrunner, supernatural has reached a point were it need s new direction hope he can do this and who knows we might even get to series 10.
Really glad Gamble is leaving. She pretty much destroyed the show these past 2 seasons. She was there from the beginning as co-runner, but she obviously is not equipped for the main job.
I love Syfy’s Being Human, it’s amazing, and hopefully Carver, who, as mentioned above, has written some spectacular episodes of SPN, can bring the magic back again. Honestly, I love the show, but seasons 6 and 7 have been painful.
Oh now I know why supernatural felt different seasons 6
I started watching when sam killed lilith. I saw just the end of that episode. I subscribed to netflix just to watch it. I love this show man,i had to go buy season 7. I dont care about all the behind the scenes stuff….who cares. Awsome show, its not the regular douche bag crap. I personally cant wait for season 8 and hope they keep going. I liked all the episodes btw
