Charles Foster Kane had his newsreel, and now Sacha Baron Cohen’s General Aladeen gets his in this look at the first scene of Paramount‘s The Dictator, which opens wide May 16. There’s plenty of fresh stuff as well as that clever track and field bit from the film’s previous trailer.

Does anyone else thing there’s a little too much positive spin coming from Deadline about this film? Hmmm. Seems suspicious.
^ Must be Chris Kattan’s agent.
God, one would think you guys work for Paramount and Sacha Baron Cohen the way you shill for the guy. Biased much? He really isn’t funny enough to warrant all the attention he’s given here… or anywhere for that matter.
Agree with you and Maverick. This movie looks like Borat but a lot less funny and several years too late.
Aye, that caused intestinal cramps. I had to watch an “Anchorman” video at YouTube to see if my sense of humor was working.
Wow, you guys need to get a grip…. If you don’t like slap stick then dont F***.. watch it. All of you who always have something negative to say why don’t you focus on your own lives.
My mistake, you’re right. All movies are awesome, I can’t wait to see every movie that is released this year.
Good thing “Coming to America” bears no resemblance to this title at all. None. Seriously. Why are you looking at me like that?
SBC has lost his mojo and his stunning lack of self-awareness is frightening. Start with the idiotic beard it’s stupid and looks fake, all he needed was a perpetual five days worth of stubble to look normal and far more dictatorial. Shooting the other runners in the track meet is stupid it’s idiotic and it’s just not funny. But nobody is willing to tell him when a joke doesn’t work so it’s the emperor’s new clothes all over again. Because he was very funny once in Borat but not at all funny in Bruno everyone is afraid to tell him the truth now.
Honestly, I thought this was silly when I first started seeing materials on this but that “HIV” joke was hilarious. My vote has been swayed, excited to see this.
Dude’s reaction to HIV-Aladeen was great.
Okay, olympics gag kinda funny, stuff prior to it was a bit earnest and uneven. Having been the biggest fan ever of Da Ali G Show I know he is capable of so so so much better. Perhaps he has lost his connection to it. No doubt this will make $$$ but I sure miss laughing at SBC. Inevitable fate of a comic gaining big success I guess unless you avoid it by freaking out and disappearing to Africa for a few months.
Unfortunately this more like Da Ali G movie… instead of Da Ali G show.
Wow is that bad. I love his hidden camera stuff, but when he does scripted the laughs just disappear.
I don’t understand the hate for a lot of flicks on this site….as industry insiders shouldn’t we support the product that gives jobs to many of our peers?
And this looks hilarious.
“…as industry insiders shouldn’t we support the product that gives jobs to many of our peers?”
Erm… no? I can’t speak for everybody but I sure as hell won’t support a product that’s crap. This isn’t funny, this is sad. A sad example of a once comic genius who’s lost his genius.
Seems painfully unfunny. Baby has a beard at birth, mother gets suffocated, changing wods into aladeen, HIV aladeeen. This is for kids!
As an industry insider and a movie goer I think what SBC is doing is great. Kudos for him and to anyone who can get away with that level of political incorrectness. If we dont support his kind of talent, we would be stuck with nothing but the same regurgitate Marvel films year round. Who cares if its less or more funny than the others. Bless him for pushing buttons.
Unfortunately for us the button he pushed was… record.
