Mark Subias, one of the New York theatre community’s top literary representatives, has joined United Talent Agency as an agent in its New York office. Subias will focus on expanding UTA’s NYC theatre department while also representing clients across film and television. Subias is returning to being an agent and leaving his NYC-based management firm SUBIAS which he formed in 2004. Before that Subias was a New York theatre agent at the William Morris Agency which he joined in 1999, working for then-William Morris theatre agent George Lane. A prominent figure in the theatre community, Subias is also a regular guest lecturer at Yale School of Drama and other theatre programs. His clients in theatre, film and TV include writers and directors Adam Rapp, Will Eno, Bash Doran, Sarah Treem, Nick Jones, Itamar Moses, Anne Carson, Nathan Englander, Danai Gurira, Sam Gold, Pam MacKinnon, Daniel Aukin, David Wiener and Les Waters. Subias joins UTA’s expanding team of NY agents who include TV talent co-head Nancy Gates, talent agent Steven Fisher, alternative television agent Allison Wallach, licensing agent Paula Friedman and motion picture literary agent Melissa Wells.

Mark has great clients and is a devoted rep. It’s just so hard to do it on your own these days, it was probably inevitable for him to join a bigger agency. Good move by UTA.
Mark is incredible at what he does–he has impeccable taste and fantastic clients. What a huge get for UTA!
Mark is stellar. He’s a true advocate for his clients and an extremely bright man. There aren’t many reps who bring his combination of business savvy and artistic sense. He reads more than every lit manager in town and the man has phenomenal taste. This a total coup for UTA.
I totally disagree… This guy pulled the wool over someone’s eyes at UTA.
He’s no player in NY or London theater.
His clients don’t move the needle and producers could care less about this guy.
I give it a year…
You’re out of your mind. Mark and John Buzzetti are the two agents who actually do things for their clients. He makes things happen. Everyone knows this. But he’s also extremely erratic, has serious control and boundary issues and can be emotional in ways that are unhelpful in the long term. No one will deny that he’s not brilliant at what he does, but he can sabotage stuff for himself and his clients… I wish him the best.
Really smart move. He is a good guy and a good agent, go gettem!
