EXCLUSIVE: Motion picture lit agent Rebecca Ewing has parted ways with UTA. Deadline has learned that non-partner Ewing, who had been with the agency for almost a decade, exited last week after informing UTA she was looking for a change. “Rebecca is a great agent and colleague and we’re going to miss her,” a UTA spokesman said today. “We look forward to working with her in the future.”
Deadline's Dominic Patten - tip him here.

There are some really terrible agent in UTA’s lit department who should be let go as well. I’m always shocked at how — for a big agency — they deliver the worst packages.
If Apatow left, they would lose half their revenue. The lit department is filled with disgruntled writers and directors who feel like their scripts don’t stand a chance compared to worse writers at WME and CAA.
Rebecca is a really nice person. I know she will land on her feet and be better off as a result. I will send her my reel as soon as I figure out where she’s at.
Hmm, methinks thou dost protest too much. The UTA I know reps many happy, employed clients. Your condemnation reeks of your own inabilities. Go point the finger at someone else, perhaps yourself. And good luck with your career.
UTA is now giving out EXCLUSIVE stories about the folks who are leaving their ranks… me thinks not.
Which means there’s only one place this story came from — straight from the horse’s mouth.
Rebecca is a superstar! Best covering agent I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to see where she lands so we can start doing business again.
Rebecca’s good people. Hoping she finds what she’s looking for.
If she is so great, why aren’t any clients leaving with her?
Becuase she’s leaving agenting?
Good for her, glad to see a capable professional like her take a chance for something better. She deserves it
Can’t believe they didn’t find a way to keep her – not smart! Rebecca is the best covering agent out there. Filled my writer assignments before I even knew I had them.
Rebecca is an extremely hard working, witty, smart lady. She will be a success wherever she lands. Really hoping she publishes a book with all of her Facebook updates… Which are genius.
Always great when the middle men confuse themselves with the talent.
I can assure you, her Facebook status updates interest no one but herself.
Rebecca is really smart and has terrific taste. I think she is going to do something more creative than agenting. My prediction is that she ends up as a studio exec.
This is the funniest comment ever posted on Deadline. Well done.
Rebecca is hands down my favorite agent. Wicked smart, great taste, and funnier than most of UTA’s clients. She never wasted my time, had great ideas and did the work. I hope another agency gets her quickly, love love love her.
Real studio execs don’t sign their posts “studio exec,” much like “buyer” below. It’s obvious who is posting half of these flattering testimonials.
And no one leaves the any business when jobs are hard to come by, unless you’re a player. There’s more to this story than meets the eye.
UTA has a lot of good people, but they just let a great one walk out the door. I dealt with her a lot and relied on her, she was honest and understood what I was trying to accomplish and got me some great clients on my projects. Rebecca, I don’t know what your plan is but you kicked ass for me, thank you.
She’s fantastic. Creatively smart and crazy hard working. What more could you ask for? Looking forward to working with her at whichever company is lucky enough to have her.
What she needs to do is start writing comedy herself, if she isn’t doing that already. That chick is hilarious!
The last agent with a personality (well, one that’s likable) just walked out the door. Rebecca, I hope you turned out the lights on your way out. Welcome back to humanity.
Wasn’t she the UTA agent that had close ties to the Austin Film Festival? Just wondering.
everybody seems to love rebecca…other than the schmucks @ UTA…
I’m a television writer represented by UTA and Rebecca was part of my team of the feature side. I found her to be smart, enthusiastic and always willing to work hard on my behalf. I will forever be grateful to her for getting me in the door for my first feature punch up and production re-write.
Wow. Rebecca was hilarious and so easy to work with. I loved that girl. She *is* funny, too. She understood me and gave me great advice more than once. I am anxious to see where she ends up.
I’m betting she got a bunch of people from the UTA mail room to write all these gushing comments about her.
I’ve known and worked with Rebecca for almost 10 years and found her to be honest, smart, diligent and a pleasure. The film business is in a weird evolutionary state now – it’s not the ’90′s anymore and the rewards that attracted the elder generation have since dissipated. I applaud Rebecca for taking charge of her life and finding what she actually wants to do…as agenting is so unrewarding now.
