EXCLUSIVE: VH1 has greenlighted its first hourlong scripted pilot, Bounce. Newcomer Taylour Paige, Dean Cain and Kimberly Elise will star in the project, set in the world of professional basketball dancers, with Valery Ortiz and Katherine Bailess cast in supporting roles. Written by James LaRosa and be directed by Sanaa Hamri, Bounce follows the lives and loves of a team of professional basketball dancers. At its heart is Ahsha (Paige), a sheltered young woman who joins the squad against the wishes of her mother Sloane (Elise), who knows this treacherous, tempting world all too well having been a dancer herself. Cain will play the coach of the basketball team. Ortiz and Bailess will play two of the dancers, singe mother
Raquel and former stripper Kyle. Bounce is executive produced by Maggie Malina and James LaRosa as well as VH1′s Jill Holmes and Jeff Olde. Bounce follows in the footsteps of VH1′s first hourlong series, the Queen Latifah-produced Single Ladies, which didn’t go through the traditional pilot stage — it originated as a movie. On the half-hour side, VH1′s only effort so far was the Tori Spelling comedy NoTorious. Bailess is with Armada Partners and attorney Chad Christopher. Cain and Elise are with APA, Paige with Stein Entertainment Group.

Yay James and Maggie! Sounds great, can’t wait to see it – I know it’ll rock.
That’s awesome! I’ve had enough of their crappy reality shows!
VH1 is starting to look like BET (in terms of their programming choices) and that’s not a good thing.
What exactly does that mean? Are you talking about both of their scripted shows having black leads? If so, why is that not a good thing?
I’m talking about shows portraying African Americans in roles that are absolute cliches…
BET has done nothing for our community. Glad to see VH1 jumping on board that wagon.
I really hope this show makes it. Love Dean!!
im sorry but this sounds just as bad as every other scripted project Vh1 has attempted in the last 10 years.
‘Bounce’…! Sorry, I cant say I’m thrilled. But will wait and see. Good luck..
This sounds horrble, all of these black shows are. Let’s be real. I have a problem w/ the same recycled over actors/actresses, b-list stars, untrained LA/NY talent that book. BET is filiming right here in Atlanta, and you would be lucky to get a one liner. Let’s stay together, Reed in between the lines, the new Young man on Campus (smart guy rip off), ect are horrible. Tyler Perry shows are bad too. Can we get some raw, new, good black shows? Stop casting the same ole people. *throws hands up in the air*
Great!!!
More TV junk!!!
Honestly, I shared this with a couple of friends and we all agreed, we can’t blame the viewers who mindlessly follow such shows, we blame the terrible writers who don’t come up with something original, positive and aims at making us better individuals/society.
What can I say, may be I just miss OPRAH.
I guess this is simply proof that TV will only be getting worse and worse for now.
team of professional basketball dancers? seriously?
Why is $$$ being wasted on projects like this in the first place? I have to agree with Mina w.
This sound quite weak for someone as talented as Dean. I respect him very much as an actor, but I think something like Bounce will just be a project he may look back on with a bit of regret. I hope I’m wrong.
Hate to tell you this dear, but Dean isn’t exactly on the A list these days…maybe he’s desperate? I do think he’s a decent actor as well as very attractive…not sure why he hasn’t gotten better roles lately.
YAY!! Im so excited the VH1 is actually doing a series and not another reality show!! and sooo glad they casted Valery Ortiz!! She is amazing!! I hope this sticks!!
Valery Ortiz is amazing, this show is so beneath her
not interested in more tv crap.
I don’t get it, why will we watch this?
Are people in LA high or is VH1 just so desperate that they would do a show like this?????!! Sure am glad to have 9,999 other channels to watch.
I feel like this show is riding the wave a bit too late.it sounds like crap
there r no bad shows just bad scripts
What happened to the VH1 that aired Love Monkey when CBS cancelled it?
