EXCLUSIVE: I’ve learned that A&E has just cancelled drama Breakout Kings two weeks after the show’s second season ended its run. The series was co-created/executive produced by Matt Olmstead and Nick Santora. Olmstead just signed up for a new gig, running the new NBC drama series Chicago Fire. For Breakout Kings, this is still two seasons more than most expected it would go after Fox passed on the pilot in 2010 despite strong testing. A&E then stepped in and, after lengthy negotiation with producing studio 20th Century TV, the cable network picked it up, with 20th TV’s cable division Fox21 producing. The series, about a squad of U.S. marshals who team up with cons to work together on tracking down prison escapees in exchange for getting time off their sentences, starred Domenick Lombardozzi, Laz Alonso and Jimmi Simpson.

I agree.. The show had to sacrifice one character to give the viewers second season and although Alonso was dope, he was the weakest like in the storyline concerning the main 5 characters. Who would ppl rather they of let go? You fools bitchin’ about him getting cut would be here doing the same thing regardless who they’d chosen. It’s a savage cutthroat network out there and though they hit the ground running as fast they could, (referring to ALL the teasers and trailers A&E put out for this show WELL in advance) there’s a lot of god shows going right now and it was definitely an underdog on a channel with few other valuable assets (shows).

THEY (A&E) SHOULD BE CANCELING SHOWS LIKE “DUCK DYNASTY” OR SHOULD I CALL IT “DUCK DIE NASTY” CAUSE THAT SHOW IS “FOWL”! GREAT PLAY ON WORDS HUH! SERIOUSLY THOUGH THE SHOW WAS A GOOD AND WAS WORTH MORE THAN 2 FRICKEN SEASONS!
Once Breaking Bad ended I needed another fix and got turned on to Break out Kings. I was feeling the pilot letting convicts get time off of their sentences for capturing other convicts on the low. Season one was good and season two surpassed all of my expectations out the gate. The finale set the stage for season three with the deal on the table but A&E had to do too much and pull the plug, seriously?
Damien was one of the better villains i’ve seen in a good while.

This is one of the best shows, I have never missed an episode, why are they taking this show off….I have several friends that after the show we always talk the show over and try to figure out what is going to happen next…..how sad…I will surely miss this one.

I just finished watching the second season and I loved it but it left me hanging so I got on line to see about season three just to find out the ass’s canceled it. That is a load of bull because this was the best show I have found in a long time.

This is one of my favorite shows. I love each of the characters and it’s killing me not knowing what is going to happen to them. If they will take the deal and get screwed over or stay loyal to Ray. I wish A&E would either bring it back or that another station would pick it up. I have got so many people hooked to this show and they all are so upset that is was cancelled. A&E need to figure out how to either bring it back or find someone else that will take it and do it justice. BRING IT BACK!!!

i AGREE! just finished season two on netflix and i was LIVID when I realized the show was cancelled after 2 seasons. I agree completely. I just finished the second season and cannot believe that they finished a show me and my friend have been hooked on whenever on Netflix. The cliff hanger at the end after sucking you in for two seasons is ridiculous. I will certainly miss this show.
I have been waiting for the 3rd season to begin…. This was a great show and should have been picked up if not by A&E then another network. The storyline were awesome and with characters that appeared true to life and extremely realistic. What blows my mind is all the realty shows that are created and continues to be nothing but JUNK remains on the air….. Very Very said day for

Operative word: RARE It’s cheaper and easier foe A&E to simply run reruns of Storage Wars.
Watched some of the first season, and though it wasn’t my favorite show, I thought Jimmi Simpson was terrific.

Jimmi Simpson MADE this show… His acting in the season 2 finale was amazing! Had me so wound up I couldn’t stop fidgeting. Fantastic. I cannot believe this show has been cancelled. Two words… not smart.

He was very good…but Selinda Swan made me want to go “down under”. She was hot, hot, hot!!!! Really, she is what made me start to watch it and I liked the show, too.
This is a big mistake, A&E. The script was clever and the characters were well developed. Do we really need another show about Swamp Dwellers or Insect Wranglers? Very disappointing…

Storage Wars has stronger new episode ratings than Breakout Kings. Storage Wars has even been the top rated show on it’s night than any other show. High ratings, money talks… low ratings, money walks.
You do realize Storage Wars is staged, right? Or do you believe these guys are extremely lucky, finding valuables in nearly every unit they buy? What makes me laugh is when they accept the buyers claim of what the items are worth. Just because Dave says he can get $500 for a painting without authenicating it, we’re supposed to believe it?

I don’t know about anyone else, but I stopped watching when they killed off Laz Alonso’s character. I just didn’t see the new dynamic in the group working as well. He was a terrific, solid leading man hero, which is what the group needed.

Absolutely ridiculous, A&E. I now have nothing to watch on your network. I’m sure they’ll replace it with Swamp Auctions or Storage Stars or whatever. This was a fantastic show and that season 2 finale left us with a crazy cliffhanger. I hope Netflix, DirectTV or Hulu picks this up. Pisses me off…
Here is my problem with A&E . . . I watch two shows on the Network – Breakout Kings and The Glades. I will watch Longmire (with Cassidy Freeman & Katee Sackhoff).
So the summer schedule on Sunday is
09 PM – The Glades
10 PM – Longmire
HBO, AMC, TNT, USA, and SHO have shows that ‘more’ people will watch; and thus A&E will have trouble gaining traction.
With the cancellation of Breakout Kings I’m afraid for the future of both.
It was just too plain vanilla to break out of the pack. Every prime timeslot is highly competitive. You have to count broadcast and cable – so what’s YOUR show doing that will convince everyone to watch it, and not the 500 shows airing at the same time?
Well at least this frees up Jimmi Simpson to do something more interesting.
…But when the “pack” contains five “gator” shows, six storage locker shows, and just as many shows about someone getting their car towed away; anything that tells a story starts looking pretty good.
I love Breakout Kings . It has such a fresh twist to it and love the cast . Hated to see the season end and couldn’t wait for the next one . One of my favorites. Can’t believe there won’t be one.
