EXCLUSIVE: Randy Jackson has sold a siblings singing competition show to MTV. Basing itself off groups with siblings like the Jackson 5, the Beach Boys, Hanson and The Jonas Brother, the untitled series will feature groups with siblings in them competing against each other. The Jackson-produced show, which is early stages of development, is getting ready to start casting and looking for family bands and groups, a source said. The American Idol judge’s Dream Merchant 21 Entertainment has partnered on the project with DiGA, the production company of former top MTV executives Tony DiSanto and Liz Gately, which is backed by Ben Silverman’s Electus. The sibling series expands Jackson’s relationship with MTV, where he executive produces America’s Best Dance Crew, currently in its seventh season.
Jackson’s future on American Idol, where he has been since the start, is unclear as none of the judges have deals beyond this past 11th season. But he is keeping busy on the producing front with the MTV siblings show, ABDC and the previously announced VH1 series Aptitude Test, an alternative career show for celebrities from Dream Merchant 21 and Shed Media. Jackson is also co-producing a Sony ATV film about country star Charley Pride, with Dwanye “The Rock” Johnson attached. Pride’s manager John Daines will also produce along with Johnson and Jackson. Keeping his hand in the music world, the Grammy-winning Jackson is starting work on producing a new Mariah Carey album.

NO MORE SINGING SHOWS…Freemantle and Fox should let Randy go…Let him be the judge on his own show and freshen up Idol. The sad thing is a triplet of Biebers could set the tween girls even crazier – Imagine if One Direction were quintuplets.
This needs to flop badly and since when is MTV music at all?
Music Television… M-TV.
This is going to be good, it’s about time something like this came out. I mean American Idol has sucked for a long time, some random ass church singing peeps who aren’t even famous now are american idols? Or what happened to that Taylor Hicks? Seriously…
MTV knows what they are doing.
I think it takes alot of talent to measure up to Randy jacksons standards. He know what it takes to be a superstar…Look at all the home runs he hit on American Idol. This show will be spectacular!!
Good Luck Randy!!
