Sony Pictures Classics announced that Michael Haneke’s Cannes Film Festival Palme d’Or winner Amour will be released in Los Angeles and New York on December 19. The intimate drama about an elderly couple confronting the end of life marks Haneke’s second top prize in three years at the festival, which wrapped Sunday. It’s the third tie-up between Haneke and SPC, which also released his Cannes titles Cache (2005) and Palme d’Or winner The White Ribbon (2009).

Really looking forward to this one . . .
It always annoys me how long we’re expected to wait for these cannes films. The film is done, release it sooner. Release it in september. Capitalize on the interest! I know they want oscars but a good film will still be in people’s minds, don’t let dramas like this get buried in december where every tom and dick and extremely loud is struggling to get an oscar.
Oh man, this is gonna be a tearjerker. Me and my kleenex will be ready for this.
September? There’s so many films coming out in the months following that it won’t have any legs. Releasing it in December ensures it a nice little window of time when significantly smaller films roll out as the big ones trickle off. The first comers will see this immediately while older and more general audiences will catch it in January/Febuary when it creeps into smaller cineplexes like A Separation did. I mean sure, it won’t make much at the box office but at least it won’t face three months of screens packed with horror films and holiday hits.
This looks like a ” true love ” story…..
Is this story about ” love at first sight ” for the couple? And timing was bad when they met…..she walked away the first time because she wasn’t ready, but now he makes her realize in life there are many different types of success, and it depends on who’s point of view what success to them really means…..although she walked away, she never had a chance to tell him ” tu eres mi corazon ” and ” siempre has sido el unico ” she always knew he loved her from the first moment…..to love is to forgive….few people in life get a chance of having true love and even fewer get a second chance of getting it right….
GOD decides everything…..” Tu eres mi corazon “
