EXCLUSIVE: Army Wives star Catherine Bell has signed a new two-year deal with ABC Studios, which produces the veteran Lifetime drama series. The deal is qualified as a talent holding one as Army Wives has not been officially renewed beyond the current supersized sixth season. It would cover Bell’s services on the show for two more seasons, and I hear it includes a big salary bump from the actress’ current paycheck, which is in the high five figures per episode. While yet to pull the trigger on a Season 7, Lifetime has been actively exploring its options, including applying for the California TV tax credit lottery, which will be held Friday. I hear keeping the show in South Carolina for one more season and moving production to Los Angeles for two more seasons are among the discussed scenarios. None of the original cast members of Army Wives have deals beyond Season 6, and locking in Bell is a major step towards a potential renewal.
Army Wives has been key to Lifetime’s rebuilding plans. The network had originally ordered a 13-episode sixth season. But in November, while that order was still in production, it picked up 10 additional episodes, which will begin airing June 24. In addition to her back-to-back starring turns on two successful drama series, JAG and Army Wives, Bell also has a lucrative original movie franchise in Hallmark Channel’s The Good Witch. I hear Bell, repped by Gersh and Brillstein Entertainment, is closing a deal for a fifth and sixth installment in the franchise, which was launched in 2008.

IT IS NICE TO READ A POSITIVE STORY ABOUT A ACTRESS. IT WILL BE INTERESTED TO LEARN WHO AND WHAT SHE WILL BE PLAYING IN HER NEXT SERIES. GOOD LUCK CATHERINE BELL.
Catherine Bell is a hit in whatever she does. I REALLY hope Army Wife’s get a seventh season, even if it must be short. We need to know happened!!!
Thanks,
Just got to have more please. please bring it back.
Yay for CB! Not only a talented actress-but a great person and an awesome mom. Lifetime or any other network would be lucky to have her!
Sadly…,this show is SO over. let it leave gracefully.
I love this show and will be very disappointed if it is canceled.
I agree with Patricia. I would hate to see this show go. I love the true and freshness of every episode.
KEEP IT ON
Would really hate for this series to end.It is so true to life and can definately go along ways. Please dont leave us hanging.
i agree. keep army wives on. it is a good show.
I will be soooo disappointed if there is not a season 7!!!! It wouldn’t be fair to all your fans to leave it with that cliff hanger. Please bring it back!
I TOTALLY LOVE THE SHOW, I NEVER EVER miss it !! IT WOULD BE A SHAME TO TAKE IT OFF !!! SERIOUSLY Give us the fans At least one more season to find out what happened to the deploying soldiers, on the plane, when Gen. Holden Says OH MY GOD at the end of the last episode!!!!
There seems to be more who love the show than those who are over it. It is a great show and one that leaves you on the edge of your seat until the next episode.
OH PLEASE…it is so NOT over..get a grip lady. This show could go on as long or longer then M*A*S*H or Gunsmoke or any of dozens of other shows did. I for one opt for MANY more seasons of Army Wives. I LOVE Catherine Bell. Her “good witch” movies are wonderful. I can’t wait to see more of them. Maybe watching baby Grace grow up..to be a good witch too. Come on…if you don’t like the shows, then don’t watch them and STOP knocking them. It’s unladylike!
Catherine deserves to be a movie star she’s beautiful and can do comedy as well as anyone when she gets the chance to do it. She was in Bruce Almighty as the anchor woman but she needs to be given a chance to be a leading lady in a rom-com opposite somebody like Ed Helms. The parts that normally go to Jennifer Aniston or Sarah Jessica Parker or Katherin Heigl should be given to Ms. Bell.
I hope army wives will be renewed, but if not Catherine Bell will always be utilized as she is a fabulous actress. Hope she will still be able to make another Good Morning Killer, and also the wonderful heartwarming Good Witch Series. Good luck Catherine!!!
Anyone who got a chance to spend time on set with Catherine, knows her to be a generous, beautiful spirit and a focused, complete professional. Congrats to her— she deserves it.
I am happy to know that she will b back. I love Army Wives & The Good Witch series. If the show moves to California, does that mean that Pamela & Chase & kids would b back wirh the rest? I miss them.
I’m guessing moving production to California would save them on production costs and they would just “fake” South Carolina in LA. The interesting thing is that Catherine Bell actually lives in South Carolina now.
I also love Army Wives and would love to see Pamela and family return.
Army Wives has been quality television – Its focus, plot and cast are excellent. If you take it off the air, and leave the likes of some sordid, sophomoric reality shows to take its place, that would be tragic. Keep Army Wives alive!
Hey Deadline!!!!
Stop calling reality TV personalities “Stars” or “Actors” they are neither. Calling them that truly degrades real actors and real stars. Im not an actor I am an Indie producer, I have both worked with reality show personalities, actors and stars, and their is light years of difference between the two.
WTF does that have to do with this story exactly?
Lol my thoughts exactly.
and what do we call Indie Producers – oh producers who make movies no one sees
I LOVE Army Wives!! I sure hope it is renewed for an 7th season!! Catherine Bel, Kim Delaney and the rest of the cast do an amazing job! I look forward to watching Army Wives each week! I can’t wait for the additional 10 episodes to air! I also love Catherine Bell in the Witches series! My hubby and I watched them for the first time last October!
I would like to thank the cast and crew of Army Wives for such an enteraining show!
I too love Army Wives, here in Australia we are only just starting season 6 and I hope we do get more seasons to follow.
All the cast play brilliant parts, but must admit I am a very big Catherine Bell fan.’

Ditto….Good writing. Believable situations and excellent characters. This rarely happens……
i think Army Wives has run it s course and i think LifeTime knows it – thus the supersized season so far. but they may be just hedging their bets incase they do decide to continue. However i wander if they got her to renew her contract because they want her to be in another show. either a spinoff of “Army Wives” OR a new series just for her or a least a series of movies or other projects that she can choose from – considering that she is their “Cash Cow” or “Star Player” and they want her under contract to keep her their. they really don’t give too many details on the contract and it said they have not signed the others yet. so i wonder. either way i’m really happy for her. i’m such a fan of Catherine Bell:)
I would love to see more seasons of army wives even if it moves California I look forward everyweek to see a new episode I look forward to seeing Pamela and chase and the kids next week.
Yay! Adore CB in all she does! Looking forward to more Army Wives, Good Witch, and any new projects.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Army Wifes – So happy to hear CB has signed – come on the rest of you “STARS” sign up – I look forward to Army Wifes every Sunday night – I don’t want to think of it ending. Sign on for more seasons – everyone!!
Army wives is an awesome show…so many times great shows like this get in the 4th…5th…6th seasons and they are cancelled just because someone thinks the story line has ran its course”…while the show still has very high ratings and a loyal fan base…I say if ER…Friends…and Law&Order can pull off 8….9…or 10+seasons…by all means Army Wives sure as H€|| can!!!
Keep Army Wives on the air…and PLEASE do not disappoint all of their awesome fans!!!!
Thanks!!!!
I so totally agree. I love this series. And there are so many stories that could be taken right from the real headlines and stories of the many that have sacrificed for the conflict we are going through right now!! This cast has excellent chemistry and I look forward to seeing it every week. If I can’t, I set my DVR or go online to see full episodes. Please keep this series!!
This show is long over since they started airing their first episode of season 6. You can tell they are running out of materials ( story lines), it’s the same stuff over and over again. You can also tell the actors and actresses are some what burnt out and are ready to move on after season 6 ends. While it’s been a great show, i was hooked on it since season 1 but all good things must come to an end. No show lasts forever. I’ve even Drew Fuller ( Trevor) in some of the life time movies, i won’t be surprised if he’s already got a project too. I’m looking forward to seeing him elsewhere, he’s my favorite since the Charmed days!.
Someone who i briefly exchanged twitter with was an Extra on Army Wives, she did say this season is their last season, Season 5 was actually supposed to be the end of Army Wives but they decided to make Season 6 the final end. I wonder why Army wives are all hush hush about it? why won’t they actually admit the show is done?. Quit hiding the truth from the fans!. Granted a few of us already know that it will end
.
I am an army wife, I wish our lives were so exciting. Was nice seeing George & Sheila Casey on the past episode, haven’t seen them since our young Lieutenant days in Vicenza, Italy in the 509th Infantry. Hope the show continues and our brave troops stay in the forefront.
Unfortunately, for about 2-3 weeks, they’ve been announcing during the previews “Only (X#) episodes left until it’s all over”. Last night they said we’re down to only 3 more til the end of the Army Wives era. What a shame. Being from a military family, it’s the first quality family TV show that deals with real issues military families face every day. The actors are amazing and this is the one show I’m really going to miss. Although, I must admit, I’m not a fan of Kellie Williams.
She’s got that air of superiority about her that I find offputting compared to the compassion and comradere of the rest of them (even that crazy Gloria!). I so hope someone picks up this show. AW is some quality entertainment we’re going to miss out on if this is really the end. How sad.
I agree. I hope it doesn’t end. There are still some great stories to be told. Perhaps if they keep some of the original cast and add on it could go for a while longer. After all, isn’t that part of the life of the military family? Orders and preparedness to be transferred at the drop of a hat?
Please don’t let it end!
I agree. There are many stories in Army and Air Force lives.I’m a former Army wife of 25 years and this AW program captures the true Army life.Things change and lives move on.PLZ do not cancel this show. This last episode with the plane cannot end the way we are all thinking that it will.. The writers are great and need to put on their thinking caps..
I’m sorry to see the posts glad Army Wives is over. It’s a wonderful family show and depicts Army life. My nephew is in Afghanistan for another year or so, and watching Army Wives seems like a small salute to those brave soldiers serving our county both in country and on foreign land. Seeing the wounded warriors in the final show from this season, and the emotional roller-coaster of the Army men and women deploying brought on tears, then smiles of encouragement. Please bring Army Wives back for at least one more season. Thanks for the opportunity to speak up.
I think Kelli Williams is a really good actress if she can make you believe her character so well. We don’t know what she is like in real life. I love Army Wives and hope they continue.
I am very disappointed to know my favorite show of all time, Army Wives is ending. It is such a well written show that never fails to hold my interest. The actors do a great job in each and every episode. I hope they will reconsider their decision to end such a much loved show.
Absolutely LOVE Army Wives. I sincerely hope there will be a season 7 even if it is in California. The characters are all so diverse and interesting and we look forward to watching every Sunday. Keep this military show going!!!!
Ending Army Wives is just wrong. My family has not ever missed an episode there is so much more they can do. I am a huge CB fan and a huge Army Wives fan. Please don’t let us loyal fans down and cancel the best show on TV
Army Wives is the best show on television. Lifetime, I hope there is a seventh season. Actually, I hope there are many more seasons. This drama pays tribute to all that is good in America, and portrays people realistically. It is a treat to watch.
I’m retired(female veteran)USAF. Some fundamental differences between the Army and AF, but I don’t care who says what about running out of material and not being able to extend “Army Wives” beyond the sixth season. Impossible! This is one subject that can go on forever. Kick the the writers in the seat of their pants (maybe replace a few) and put the show back on the road! Please.
I just can”t believe that the show will not be coming back to lifetime. I mean where did it go wrong this was an excellent show and I will miss watching. I hope whoever change their minds.
Plz Plz don’t cancel Army Wives. It’s one of a few tv programs that my husband & I enjoy watching together. It has brought such an appreciation for our military’s familys as well as our actual soldiers. Plz I watch more programs on Lifetime & USA Cable Channels than I do network shows. I love the entire cast. CB of course (lived Jag too) and the actress that plays Roxie is fantastic & really helps make the show.
Catherine Bell is a breath of fresh air. She always puts on a great performance in Army Wives, Good Witch movies, or anything else she does. She is a joy to watch and I wish her great success in whatever she chooses to do. If she’s in it, I’ll be watching it!!
