Open Road has acquired U.S. distribution rights to Ten, an action thriller that David Ayer will direct with Arnold Schwarzenegger starring. The film will be funded by QED International. Skip Woods wrote the script. It’s about an elite DEA task force dealing with dangerous drug cartels that executes a tactical raid on a cartel safe house. It’s a ruse, and the DEA squad is stealing the merch. They think they’ve gotten away with millions, until team members begin getting bumped off.
Open Road is releasing Training Day scribe Ayer’s upcoming cop thriller End Of Watch on September 28. Bill Block, Paul Hanson, Joe Roth, Palak Patel and Al Ruddy are producers while Alex Ott of Ayer’s Crave Films is exec producing. QED CEO Block and Open Road CEO Tom Ortenberg put together the deal. CAA reps Schwarzenegger and Ayer.
Schwarzenegger is starring in the QED-financed Black Sands, an action film that will be directed by Act Of Valor’s Scott Waugh and Mike McCoy. Woods did the rewrite on a script that has Schwarzenegger playing a loner who wages war against a ruthless weapons manufacturer and his private army in the Southwest.
Here is a trailer for Ayer’s upcoming film End Of Watch:

Sounds like this is going to be an awesome team up. Can’t wait!
I think this is going to be great! This is exactly what Arnold’s career needs right now. David Ayer has such a great grasp on films like this. Looking forward to it!
Looking forward to this film. Will be nice to see the signature David Ayer’s darkness with Arnold. Can’t wait….
Ayer’s new movie looks kick-ass. This sounds like it’s going to be an awesome follow-up.
Ayer’s films have consistently proven to be gritty and authentic — I’m excited to see all of his upcoming work!
Fan of a “good” Arnold movie. And Ayers knows good films.
Open Road is going to have an impressive ’13.
I still can’t figure out why Arnold wants or needs a movie career at his age and after his political accomplishments. Is he doing it for the “art”? Is he an applause junkie?
Jake G is trying so hard to reinvent himself to no avail. with those pound puppy eyes he’s forever bound to bubble boy type movies. stop trying to fight what youre meant to do Jake. American males won’t accept you as a “man’
Skip Woods is one of the best writers in the business today. Balls to the wall script.
Yep, I totally buy Gylenhaal as a tough-guy cop from the streets. Not.
Dude needs to stick to playing the doe-eyed guy in romcoms, that’s his natural habitat. He and his team should SERIOUSLY stop trying to make the tough guy/action hero thing happen.
This sounds more like American remake of The Raid.
The EOW trailer looks to promise a great cop movie that only Ayer could bring to the big screen. And if anyone can reinvent Arnold it’s definitely Ayer. With EOW and now TEN, hopefully Ayer will finally be recognized as the great film maker that he is.
