EXCLUSIVE: CAA signed Korean actor Lee Byung-Hun. He got launched in the U.S. as part of the cast of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and reprises his role in the sequel G.I. Joe: Retaliation. He just got cast to star with Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Catherine Zeta-Jones in Summit’s Red 2.
He moved into Hollywood films after starring in films that included the Chan-wook Park-directed Joint Security Area, I Saw the Devil, The Good, The Bad, The Weird, and A Bittersweet Life. He’s about to get his hand and foot print immortalized at Grauman Chinese Theater, only the second Korean actor to get that honor. He continues to be managed by Charles Pak in Korea and lawyered by Jeff Frankel.

Although I do like Lee Byung-Hun (he was fantastic in “I Saw the Devil”), I don’t understand why he deserves this honor when he is:
1) practically unrecognizable by most non-Korean moviegoers;
2) receiving the honor in connection with a SUPPORTING ROLE;
3) recieving the honor in connection with a SEQUEL;
4) only one in a HUGE pool of asian actors who are more deserving of such an honor?
The only rationale I can fathom is that, like the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, these cement blocks can be easily purchased by the right marketing machine.
His performance in ‘A Bittersweet Life’ is nuanced and powerful.
Total and complete badass in A Bittersweet Life.
So Jenny Rawlings rewards her recent WME comrades by sending her client back to the same agency that nudged her out, eh? Sounds about right.
