Probably not the kind of publicity that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney wants leading into his appearance tonight at a fundraiser with the star of NBC’s The Apprentice.

As a non American,looking at the last couple of years of US Politics, I am pretty sure that Ronald Reagan would be unelectable as the candidate for today’s Republican Party. Too left wing.
It’s also pretty obvious that John F. Kennedy wouldn’t go anywhere in today’s Democratic Party. Too right-wing! Even a moderate like Bill Clinton would be considered too far right for today’s Dems.

Unlike Obama, if/when Romney is elected President, he’ll drift toward the center (like Clinton). Right now, Romney is just trying to fire up his base. Don’t believe all the doom and gloom from the MSNBC crowd.
What are you talking about? Do you read anything besides right wing blogs? Obama is barely even a moderate, even the much-stigmatized healthcare plan was the Republican alternative to Clinton’s single payer proposal. Maybe if you solely look at social issues you’d find that Obama is a bit to the left of Clinton, but that is more a matter of the time we live in (gay marriage is accepted by most of America, DADT was highly unpopular, etc).

To be honest, I’m not sure where our President was born. But I do find it interesting that he’s spent a cool $1 million on attorney fees fighting this issue in various courts.

You have no idea how much he’s spent on it. He might have spent a million on attorney’s fees but you have no idea where that money goes, in terms of how his attorneys use the funds. He’s the President of the United States, he needs a good lawyer.
Where would Obama be WITHOUT the “birther” debate? I think he loves the controversy and encourages it regularly. He uses it like a hammer over the media’s heads to make the Tea Party (especially) look hysterical. Works like a charm every time.

Because news agencies are now owned by uber-corporations that insist they be profitable (unlike only a generation ago when news agencies were not expected to be profitable but were subsidized by media owners in order to deliver a service necessary to sustaining an actual representative democracy); therefore they will stoop to any low to feed us any sensationalized garbage that will keep our attention rather than pay real journalists to do real investigations in order to report real news. They just want to sell commercial time.

Fact is, Barack Obama himself was a “birther” before running for president. A booklet published in 1991 by Obama’s former literary agent Acton & Dystel states that he was “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.” So Obama was either a liar then or a liar now. He is a pathological liar so why wouldn’t people question the veracity of his birth certificate?
Or you could realize that COUNTLESS biographies that ran before that booklet was published and just after all list him as having been born in Hawaii. Is it so hard to believe it was a mistake?
Further, the State of Hawaii has verified he was born there. The same way they do with anyone. Finally, two birth announcements appeared the day after his birth in local papers.
