Disney just said that it is moving Lone Ranger to the Fourth of July holiday in 2013, securing a July 3, 2013 date for the update of the Western hero starring Armie Hammer and Johnny Depp. It originally was scheduled for May 31, 2013. The studio also said it is moving Thor 2 up a week to November 8, 2013. In addition, it confirmed that Disney-Fox-DreamWorks’ Steven Spielberg-directed Robopocalypse is moving to April 25, 2014, a move Fox announced earlier in the day.

That’s not a bad time to open in general, but shouldn’t Lone Ranger be worried about Despicable Me 2?
I like how Fast Five has turned the last weekend of April into the new First Week of Summer. We get Tom Cruise in Oblivion in that slot in 2013, and now Spielberg’s Robopocalype in 2014.
Hopefully WB decides to move The Hangover 3 into that new spot instead of having it open the same damn weekend as Fast & Furious 6.
I mean, who at WB thought that was a good idea? The sequels to 2 of the biggest male oriented films of 2011 opening on the same day. That doesn’t even make any sense. Why would you even risk diminishing your box office by going up against each other?
Who cares about HANGOVER 3. The second film was one of the laziest sequels ever made, a carbon copy of the original in every way.
My guess is the main movie “Lone Ranger” should be worried about is itself. That thing has stinkbomb all over it.
They can move Lone Ranger wherever they want, it’ll still (I’ll be diplomatic) underperform. Dep’s mask of the month is wearing thin.
I am worried about Easter weekend 2023 when Cars VIII is up against Spiderman 13D and Hangover 33 1/3
Funniest. Comment. Ever.
Thanks for the chuckle!!!
