Last night’s Saturday Night Live, hosted by New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning with musical guest Rihanna, drew a 5.2/13 in the metered-market households. That was up from SNL‘s last two originals hosted by Sofia Vergara and Josh Brolin but below the March 3 edition of the NBC late-night show hosted by Lindsay Lohan, which posted a 5.5/14, the highest for a regular SNL this season. Eli Manning’s SNL ratings also couldn’t match those for his brother, Peyton Manning, and Eli’s Super Bowl rival Tom Brady, whose SNL hosting stints delivered a 5.9 and a 6.0 household rating, respectively. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, last night’s SNL averaged a 3.1/14 in adults 18-49, up from the most recent originals but also down from the Lohan-hosted show, which pulled in a 3.3/15.

The only way I’d watch is if they put Lohan back on.
After watching this train wreck, me, too, L. It was embarrassingly awful. Even Wiig doing that creepy, over-tanned weirdo wasn’t funny. The live audience was dead silent during that ‘game show’ skit that has to be the worst written piece of dung SNL ever created.
I want my 1 1/2 hours back.
Eli was cool. He made me chuckle in the court room scene. SNL is distancing itself from Kristen Wiig by giving tine to Abby Elliott and Vanessa Bayer. Why does a smiling Vanessa tries to hypnotize the camera? Stop trying trying to steal scenes Vanessa or Lorne is gonna call you into the Principal’s office.
Rihanna was awful.
Downplaying Wiig just shows the lack of talent in the other female cast members. They are all just non-descript fill ins. And what does Seth Meyers have on Michaels that allows him to continue to have the head writer’s job?
Thank god Eli has better timing on the football field.
Was overall very impressed by eli’s performance. Only the post 12:50 sketches were sub par. Was bummed that shy ronnie didn’t make an appearance, especially if samberg is leaving after this season. He should have done the chris brown verse on “Birthday Cake.”
Eli did what he could with the painfully unfunny writing he was given…although the “Little Brothers” sketch was Hilarious..by far the highlight of the night. Rihanna…second song/performance was better than the first.
The show, per usual, was gawdawful. And what prompted the writers to put Eli in virtually every sketch? I mean, there’s a reason he’s paid to play football and not act. Because there was a lot of not acting going on all over the place. The sketches were uniformly lame. The writing, as always, was subpar. Even Weekend Update was a waste of time. Like the above poster wondered: how does Seth Meyers keep his job as head writer?
Eli was ‘cute’ last night, but couldn’t hold up against his older brother – NOT because he couldn’t be as funny, but that the current writing on the show is GOD AWFUL. Weekend Update (with Sasha) was painful and cringe inducing.
Eli was hysterical last night. I bet his ratings would have been higher if not for the Mayweather fight.
Those are pretty solid ratings considering it was up against cinco de mayo and Mayweather. It was a very funny episode too. Eli did great.
