Flight, which marks Robert Zemeckis’ first live-action feature since 2000′s Cast Away, has been given a November 2, 2012 wide release date, Paramount announced today. To make room for the drama, the studio has shifted the Barbra Streisand-Seth Rogen comedy The Guilt Trip from that date to Christmas Day. Denzel Washington stars in Flight, the John Gatins-scripted story of a commercial pilot who averts a plane crash and is hailed a hero, but an investigation discovers he was flying under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Guilt Trip, formerly knows as My Mother’s Curse, now lands on a date that also houses the Weinstein Co’s Django Unchained, Warner Bros’ The Great Gatsby, and FilmDistrict’s Playing The Field.

I smell Oscars. I heard this is Denzel’s Leaving Las Vegas.
my typo! GATINS.
Flight is a guaranteed Oscar-contender. Well back, Mr. Zemeckis! The fact that Paramount pushed their Seth Rogen movie back to Christmas indicates that they have a lot of confidence in this film – always a good sign!
Streisand is Oscar-worthy in this one, I hear.
Well, according to Donna Karan and Barbra herself, they are really excited about this one. I spent a day with the both of them the day before her 70th birthday (I’m just a fan who happened to work at the right place at the right time when they both arrived). To hear Barbra Streisand on the phone, telling me “Hi, this is Barbra Streisand and we’re trying to find how to get to your …). When they arrrived it was nothing but HILARIOUS! That’s when Donna leaked out to me that ‘Barbra is just like her newcharacter. She’s really good in this one too!” To which Barbra replied, “…but I wish they didn’t cut that one scene that I really liked…”. This is THE DAY OF ALL DAYS THAT I WILL REMEMBER FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE. Details of it is being put in a journal as we speak!
Isn’t the Guilt Trip w/ Paramount Advantage ? Will it platform before a wide Christmas day release.
Welcome back bob z., we’ve missed you.
The film is outstanding. It was high time for Denzel to show his acting abilities after cruising by on sheer charm for too long.
From what I hear, Paramount first moved Guilt Trip to November 2nd from the original earlier release date because they thought it was a hit. After tweaking a few things, they recently tested it again to even more fanfare, thus the move to the most desired release date, Christmas Day . We all hear Denzel’s flick is great, but Babs will be up for an Oscar for her film for sure.
It will be so incredible seeing Barbra STARRING on the silver screen again. I cannot wait!
Does Barbra will be nominated for an Oscar, I hope so, I want her to win, it’s past time to earn more as an actress.
Really excited about the new Barbra Streisand film!!!!
Word has it that it is really good and funny, yet has some wonderful serious moments! And it is her first main role (besides some guest appearances here and there) in a long long time! Wish Christmas could hurry up already…
Babs the best!
