Mindy looks good; Ben and Kate looks idiotic.
Give it a rest, Mindy.
If by “idiotic” you mean “hilarious”, then YEAH!
Michael – This is not hilarious. Seriously. You may have something to do with this show and I wish you luck. But this is hardly hilarious. Really
None of these show have anything on HBO’s “GIRL… I’m confused why some of the top network TV talent, who raking in the big bucks, can’t even give me a laugh in a 5 minute trailer.
The M. Night comment is true… she woulda been a choice for Ugly Betty.
I agree. Ben and Kate looks hilarious and charming.
M. NIGHT SHYAMALAN IS STARRING IN A SITCOM??
The Mindy Project looks like waaaaaay too much Mindy Kaling.
She was in every single scene in the last script I read. She is not a strong enough actress to carry this show.
Yeah. I like Mindy Kaling. A lot actually. But yes, I agree. Dial it back a little bit. We like you, Mindy but don’t exhaust us. Some funny bits in there (Hugh Grant in About a Boy vs. Hugh Grant in real life) but then some “please stop talking” moments as well (Springsteen vs. Mellancamp).
Mindy Kaling, Aziz Ansari, Tomato, Tomatoe……. both equally unfunny and annoying. Can we cease and desist with the PC stuff? All these shows except The Following are #LAME
Kaling reminds me of every single annoying person I’ve been trapped next to on a long flight, all balled into one hyper-active roll of super-annoyance. I’m not a violent person, but the cadence she speaks with makes me want to push her down a flight of marble stairs. Why marble? Because carpet is too kind.
Yes! Thank you! I am also not a suuuuuper violent person, but whoever thought that taking the perpetrator of the absolute WORST, most annoying character on The Office and giving her a show completely saturated with her obnoxiousness should be next in line at the top of that marble staircase.
Show us that pre-vid that started off the presentation, please. It honestly sounded funnier and more entertaining than any of these shows.
Jeez…. they’re all good… probably too smart for the room (ie commercial tv), but I’d watch any of them.
The Following looks really good
I agree. THE FOLLOWING looks like a hit to me. Glad Kevin is coming back to television.
I will never understand the region blocking of promos. Full episodes fair enough, but not letting Canada / The UK and Aus watch your promos is just silly! At least NBC let the world watch their promos yesterday, come on FOX I want to see what Sky will be buying for the Autumn.
Ditto. Makes zero sense.
Probably some contract with local providers. Whoever is showing this overseas has their own marketing depts that don’t want their toes stepped on. Maybe they think all these trailers suck and they can do a lot better, or they understand their local audiences better.
And consider the possibility that FOX or NBC really is releasing a terrible trailer – why should foreign outlets have to suffer the consequences of bad marketing they had no control over? Also, there are serious cultural issues to consider, such as never ever showing the sole of a shoe in certain cultures. Americans wouldn’t stop to think twice about something like that.
Mindy looks silly, like a random bunch of tv/movie references and ideas thrown in with mindy kaling being annoying and oh im quirky but not in a smarter way like New girl. Hopefully it was just a bad trailer but i expected something fairly god based on the Buzz around it, Terrible title by the way change it.
Goodwin and Ben & Kate both look good and sweet.
The Following looks great and mob doctors a little to cliche but its not my kinda thing could be alright though.
Wow, that Mindy project trailer was all over the freakin’ map.
Wow! Too bad for Fox…These pretty much all make me want to rip the Fox channels from my TV…trying too hard to be clever, too cute or way too preditable and cliche.
Is Mindy supposed to be likeable? So flawed she’s adorable? She’s not. She’s irritating, unlikeable and not funny.
Not really feeling any of these all that much. The Following probably looks the best of the bunch and I’ll watch Goodwin Games a couple times because I really enjoy HIMYM. Mindy looks cheap or poorly directed, need to see more to decide. The Mob Doctor looks like something you’d see on Lifetime. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but NBC’s shows looked better.
Mindy Project looks good, but maybe too adult for New Girls’ sorority fanbase.
Ben & Kate looks boring, is trying too hard.
The Following looks awesome.
Mob Doctor looks a bit ridiculous but may find a nice female audience.
Goodwin Games looks unwatchable
A few things about Mindy: Looks terribly unfunny, I am positive I don’t want to listen to her for 1/2 hour. It’s adorable that she refers to a Christian deity in her prayer to try to appease Middle America, but no matter how many white friends they pile around her, she’s still best used as a sidekick. If at all. I hated Outsourced, and I hate this. Why not just send the whole season overseas and let us watch what we want to watch?
What does the race of her friends have to do with anything? Why are you comparing this show to “Outsourced”? The two shows are completely different. If you don’t think Mindy is funny fine, but there is no need to bring your racial/ethnic hang-ups into the conversation.
Someone’s hooded sheet not back from the drycleaners?
Is that Snooki in the Mindy Project?
Ben and Kate looks the comedic best of the bunch but having their last name as Fox seems slightly sycophantic. Nat Faxon had me laughing out loud a few times in that trailer.
Please tell me the Mindy Project is not really called the Mindy Project. I think there’s room for something, but it seems a little dissipated – is it a hospital ensemble comedy, is it a romantic comedy driven by Mindy – not saying it has to follow a formula but I’m surprised it feels undeveloped from the trailer after hearing great things about the pilot.
Goodwin Games seems too high concept to last very long – a la Sons of Tuscon. Characters seem a little too stock from this trailer. Emotional beats play corny.
… and then they fall in a pool!
Sold!
Too late to still grab TJ Miller and LITTLE BROTHER??
Did they put Gary Marshall in charge of selecting the comedies this year? Everyone of them looks like they will have “very special episode” for Valentine’s Day & any other Hallmark holiday that daydreaming fat girls swoon for.
Mindy looks fabulous and NBC are idiots for not taking it they should have cancelled Whitney and scheduled Mindy in her place. Goodwin Games looks like a lot of fun much more entertaining than HIMYM which has never been funny and is constantly contrived and obnoxious.
You must draw a paycheck from Fox or have something against NBC and CBS or most likely both are true.
Mindy is incredibly annoying–even still clip was amusing. I’ll give the others a shot too…
I like her, and I actually thought she came across pretty well in the clips. To me, the questions are, (a) will she (a) be surrounded by some sort of strong supporting cast and (b) will she ever show any growth as a character?
As far as (a) goes, if it’s just her as the focus, I could see it getting old quickly. But if she’s balanced out with a strong cast, the overall tone could easier to deal with. Can they get Richard Schiff to be on the show more often? His dryness would contrast well with Kaling’s ditziness.
And about (b): it’s one thing if the show aims for goofy humor, as “30 Rock” decided to do long ago. But if not, I don’t think it’ll work.
Does Fox have a rope that I could fashion into a noose and hang myself after watching the “comedy” pilots?
Ben & Kate just became the most anticipated comedy of the Fall Season. Not that I ever really anticipate a Fall comedy, but if I did, this would be the one that kept me up at night, just waiting for Time to move faster.
Heart + Buffoonery = Satisfied Viewership (of at least this Dude).
Good luck.
Seriously, “Dude?” Bravo for clearly working on that pilot in some capacity, and I’m sure it will do well, but it’s just the New Girl with siblings and blond bangs. All the same people, all the same turns, all the same quirk.
“I haven’t been on a date in forever. I don’t remember how to be sexy!” Quirky lines. Quirky bad advice. Then she’s saved from a bad guy by her roommate, who happens to be her brother instead of not her brother. It’s a clone.
I’ll give it this: little girl who plays the daughter is adorable.
Love How I Met Your Mother. The Goodwin Games has potential, but needs a marketing facelift.
“That Mindy Project” (which would be a better title, sorry) seems contrived and forced. And does Mindy indeed have that “it” factor to make us want to sit through something that isn’t really that great (like we do with “30 Rock”)? Here’s to hoping Mindy’s people aren’t overestimating her popularity potential.
Smoke House on me tonight, peeps.
Not sure how I feel about Mindy but I’m relieved she’s not just Kelly Kapoor as a doc, Ben & Kate toward the end made me laugh out loud but mostly is too bland, The Following is dark and creepy and will probably be hugely successful, Mob Doctor doesn’t have a shot IMHO, and The Goodwin Games looks fun and heartwarming. Goodwin Games is my favorite. I love the cast and the message.
Why doesn’t “Mob Doctor” have a shot?
