A month after securing a 13-episode fifth and final season renewal from Fox, modestly rated sci-fi drama Fringe has been sold in off-network syndication to Discovery Communications’ Science Channel. The pact between Fringe producer/distributor Warner Bros and Science includes a SVOD carveout, allowing Warner Bros to sell the series to a streaming service where serialized dramas do far better than in traditional off-network syndication. Chatter about a Fringe off-network sale started this morning when the series was listed as “sold” for a fall 2012 launch on a slide from Warner Bros TV Group president Bruce Rosenblum’s speech at an investor conference. Variety was the first to unveil Science as the buyer.

Such a great sci-fi series. Incredible acting.
Hopefully, more people can enjoy it who haven’t gotten into it on Fox.
lol, poor chuck
FRINGE fits with the Science Channel’s programming better than the repeats of FIREFLY. If they’re smart, they can re-purpose some of their existing documentary series and specials to explore ideas found in related FRINGE episodes. Run a FRINGE episode followed by a companion non-fiction show, or punctuated by infotaining interstitials. They can do weekend marathons or week-night blocks. “Fringe Friday,” “Weird Wednesday,” and so forth.
So WB SOLD fringe to cable channel and now will sold it to Netflix, Hulu or Amazon….i mean what is the point. I mean why they can sold it to channel and to internet streaming service.
Your English is terrible, so I don’t even understand your question/complaint.
I think it is a good move to sell it to another channel, like Science, where they can have a companion segment to discuss the reality behind the fringe science events and how close we are to some of the ideas proposed in the series. And Netflix Streaming would be a great place for Fringe. It provides better, more affordable access to more people as we approach the final 13 episodes.
This is an excellent fit for Science. Although the science on Fringe is wacky, the show often deals with science ethics. And then there’s Dark Matters, the Science series that’s basically Fringe in documentary form – hosted by John Noble himself.
Fringe is very good, but the actress that portrait “Olivia” lack of spark.
I don’t want to spoil anything, but if you keep watching, you’ll understand that any “lack of spark” on Olivia’s part in seasons 1 and 2 was intentional and necessary for the story.
what the hell are you talkin about?you apparently dont know the character. Anna Torv is a fantastic actress and I have been absolutely in love with Olivia and Fringe for 4 years…JJ abrams is a genius and I hope he keeps crankin out hit after hit
Yes, totally agree with D.R. Jones. Anna Torv was wonderful, as was the rest of the cast. I also agree that her coming out of her shell somewhat is indeed part of the story.
I have loved Fringe since the beginning. I don’t have cable tv but now that I know its moving to cable, I will get it.
I don’t understand all this behind the scenes stuff. Will the final 13 episodes still be shown on FOX?
The final 13 episodes of Season 5 will air on Fox. Repeat episodes, Seasons 1 through 5, will air on Science Channel.
Once I watched one episode in 1st Season, I got hooked. However, the last remaining episodes of Season 4 are a dud. The Observers enslaving the planet? when their cardinal rule is not to tamper but to observe important events. Not even the good performances of the actors can pull off the less than average story lines of the last 2 episodes. Were the script writers on strike again?
Can’t wait!!!!
Love Fringe!! Can’t get enough!
Had my ‘devo’ set to record 3 – episodes of “Fringe” Friday evening (2/14/13), but mid-week, the episodes were ‘programmed-out’ in favor of ‘Firefly’… Is the syndication of Fringe episode aired via the Science Channel gone ?
