This looks ridiculous. I still like the Gos though, and Brolin too.
was expecting better honestly.
The movies looks awesome but the LOOK of the movie is a little too digital for a period piece. Not nearly as bad as Public Enemies though…
When’s it coming out again? Soon?
I was looking forward to this quite a bit but having seen the trailer now I’m only left in doubt of how the film will end up. Here’s hoping it’s not a dissapointment.
Love the actors involved, but it lacks gravitas.
The production values seem cheap, no?
Nice period piece and then they have to go and ruin it with a Jay Z song. What?
The light and fluffy version of L.A. Confidential
Think Hollywood will figure out Gos isn’t a leading man after this one bombs too?
If Gosling’s supposed to be ~the~ leading man of the future/now, he’s certainly not choosing his roles right.
A supporting role in a rom dram, a lead in a political flick, and a divisive neo-noir… a supporting role in this, an indy he’s only in for about 20 minutes, and a ridiculously violent film that’s only going to have a small theaterical before VOD release this year.
This looks like the best parts of “Mulholland Falls” and the worst parts of “L.A. Confidential.”
This looks pretty ridiculous. It’s like LA Confidential for the ADD generation. And that Jay Z track mixed, in is god awful!
It looks awful. The digital look is killing movies.
well, I never realized Ryan Gosling had such a high pitched voice/he doesn’t sound very virile compared to Josh Brolin’s !!! and it’s a problem if you’re one of the male leads.
I find the tone interesting and compelling. Looks more akin to a comic book adaptation. And if you were expecting something realistic and authentic, then you are right in finding it ridiculous. I am really liking it. Especially Penn’s performance. As far as i can judge from this trailer.
Looks like a bad parody. Sean Penn’s accent is too much
Compare this to the trailers for Boardwalk Empire, and it just looks immature, crude, derivative to the nth degree, and for nobody. Too stiff, historical and lame for kids, and too crappy for adults. What a colossal waste of talent. Of course, the fault lies with the director and the studio for hiring him. Zombieland guy? Of course that made money, I’m sure he’ll make this zippy too!
That trailer is laughable! Using a contemporary hip hop cut over this is equal to using Metallica to sell an 1800′s western and they wonder why people aren’t excited…who approves this crap? Let’s spend tens of millions to promote this film, but make sure we let the edit monkey cut the trailer and have a 12 year old choose the music! Great plan guys…
