Los Angeles (May 22, 2012) __ Hanno Basse has been named Chief Technology Officer of Fox Filmed Entertainment (FFE), it was announced today by Dean Hallett, Executive Vice President Operations & Strategy, Chief Financial Officer of FFE. In this position, Mr. Basse will direct the company’s technology strategy, and play an essential role in developing the next generation of entertainment content and distribution platforms.
Dean Hallett added, “Hanno’s exceptional experience with digital distribution platforms will be invaluable as we leverage new media to create more viewing options for consumers.”

Mr. Basse will guide the development of new distribution platforms, lead the company’s world-class technology organization, and work closely with all FFE distribution businesses to provide engineering support for key initiatives. He will also maintain FFE’s competitive leadership in the media technology community, representing the studio with industry organizations, standards-setting consortiums, as well as legislative and regulatory bodies. In addition, he will lead the development of the studio’s content protection strategy from a technical perspective, and support its anti-piracy efforts.

Mr. Basse was most recently with DIRECTV, where he served as Senior Vice President of Broadcast Systems Engineering. In that role, he was responsible for the design and implementation of DIRECTV’s broadcast infrastructure, and served as the technical lead for the introduction of many innovative technologies to DIRECTV’s platform, including HD, 3D, and On-Demand services. Mr. Basse studied Radio Communications Technology at the Engineering College of the Soviet Air Defense Forces in Kiev, Ukraine, and received his Bachelor’s diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Officer’s College of the Air Force in Kamenz, Germany.
