Sorta like “Transformers” except that I can figure out what is going on and, knowing Berg, it probably has some character development between the booms.
There’s really nothing hot about this clip. For those of us unfortunate to already see this in Europe, we know what a crushing disappointment this movie was. (Anotherwgamember: yes, that’s what you’d think about a Peter Berg movie. Here…strangely, didn’t happen.) It’s going to be interesting to see how this performs now that “Avengers” will open in the U.S. first. Universal should have struck before the better movie hit. They’ll get crushed between multiple movies.
disappointment? that’s your fault for having any expectations. this is a big dumb loud summer movie. nothing more.
Absolutely, steve. I’ve seen it three times now (twice on my own coin, one of those in a dubbed version) and it’s exactly what it says on the can. I prefer it to ‘Avengers’, least of which is that it’s not in 3D so is cheaper with no stupid glasses, but it’s going to have its work cut out in the U.S.
I have to see this, but I refuse to,pay for it.
Sorry “Angloid Man,” last time I checked, the box office could support two movies in one summer.
>a $170.9 million gross so far
Does anyone know if these now endlessly reported overseas grosses really mean all that much? I mean, wouldn’t that money be “trapped” overseas and unavailable for new domestic productions anyway? (I mean, without import details and such?)
Well believe it or not there is life outside of the States. Quite a lot actually if you bothered to get an education. And seeing that ‘overseas’ grosses regularly outperform US Domestic totals and are now a more important revenue stream for the studios and seeing that many many films are cross border productions and all the studios have overseas offices and being that this is a film website then that is why a.they are endlessly reported and b. why they mean a lot and c. who gives a shit if they don’t go into ‘domestic’ productions
Rihanna is such a great action hero she is so believable in this part almost as if she were born to be an action hero. They wasted money on Taylor Kitsch he’s not needed at all in this it would have been better with just Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker saving the world from these awful alien invaders.
You’re on to something. The parts Kitsch and… whoever plays the other guy are in MOS’ that are not limited to men and are open to females to serve in.
It would have been an act of coolness to put women in those roles and not change a word of the script.
I don’t care how much this movie made overseas, it still looks fucking stupid to me.
With all things considered, it didn’t make too much overseas.
Had to laugh. Reminds me of that commercial now showing a white-haired director directing his crew blowing up an old 1800′s or so sail ship, saying about the exploson, “No, Bigger, BIGGER.” battleship: bigger explosions, bigger, bo more, more, bigger! Still a joke. Oh, an expensive, dumb… joke. Well, at least the actors, workers were employed.
I agree. Everything about this movie is just irritating. It’s like of those kids you knew in high school who tried so desperately to be cool and well liked but completely lacked authenticity and had zero character. The harder it tries to be popular, the more despised it becomes.
I still can’t get over how bad the CGI looks. That and, well, the movie looks stupid.
I didn’t know this was a comedy. I mean really look at this clip.
And finishing it off with that ridiculous slow motion forwards/backwards deal. So lame.
Did anyone else notice how the alien bomb thing kind of LOOKS like one of the pegs from the board game? The way it implants itself and then explodes? This was funded by Hasbro, after all. It’s funny to me that Hollywood will go so far as to sensationalize the inserting of plastic pegs into holes just because that’s the basic action of the underlying “board game property.”
