Paramount‘s Insurge label is collaborating with Tugg to release the horror film The Loved Ones, which most recently screened at this year’s SXSW. (The Tugg platform enables filmgoers who want to see a movie to set up on-demand screenings at local theaters.) Loved Ones, written and directed by Sean Byrne, centers on a girl who asks a guy to the prom and he says no — so she throws a prom of her own where he has no choice but to attend. Robin McLeavy and Xavier Samuel star.

wait. i thought i saw this movie like two years ago?
You’re probably thinking of one of the other 65,000 horror movies it resembles.
Film won midnight madness at Toronto two years back. I wouldn’t say it’s one of 65,000 generic teen horror flicks until you’ve seen it. As it’s certainly not.
Pat – you probably did. i saw it in 2010 – killer movie!
Not a big horror fan, but damn… That trailer was sick.
Interesting that it looks like an Australian film and they don’t have Proms in Australian high schools. I guess you have to cast your net wide if you want a release outside the country.
But we do have Formals and that’s what it is in the movie. Just re-dubbed for the trailer. Cleverer than you thought, huh?
You mean a party for the graduating class. Um… Yes Aussies do i think it’s called a formal.
man that rocked
Film is insanity personified. Hope it catches on in the U.S. Congrats to those involved
I don’t often say this but I AM SOLD.
Wow. That is suspiciously like MY prom night. I’m suing someone.
Not really. Freaking LOVE that trailer.
Say this movie a little while back. The audience freaked!
Not a big horror fan in ANY way at all but the minute it ended I actually said (aloud), “That is bad ass.”
Wow. Good for them.
That certainly took a dark turn.
Now that’s how you cut a trailer. Like so many others on the thread, horror is not my thing, but this one has my interest. It reminds me of King’s “Misery”, because “the crazy” seems so normal for the people perpetuating it. Freaky stuff…
Also very excited about Tugg’s business concept. If promoted well, that business has legs.
You did! The Aussie one.
