Actor, comedian, raconteur and all around renaissance man Stephen Fry posted a tweet on his Twitter account earlier today teasing his followers with news that he and his once and future comedy partner Hugh Laurie are “cooking up a project together. We will be working again soon.” He apologized for having no other details, but said he would offer more when he can. Laurie is just coming off his epic run on Fox’s House, so it may surprise many people in the U.S. that Laurie is, in fact, British, and is still best known there for doing comedy, particularly with Fry. They starred together in the sketch comedy show A Bit of Fry & Laurie, which ran from 1989 to 1995 at various time on BBC1 and BBC2. The two men, along with Emma Thompson, met while all attended University of Cambridge. All three of them – and others from that generation of British actors – were part of the ensemble cast of Kenneth Branagh’s Peter’s Friends in 1992.

Hopefully they will team up as Professor Higgins and Colonel Pickering in Emma Thompson’s My Fair Lady ! That would be AWESOME…and would make perfect sense!
Oh…it’s will be great . I’m a fan “Jeeves & Wouster” show, and i hope – his dont joked .
I, for one, would love to see a PETER’S FRIENDS +20 movie, a la BEFORE SUNSET. Although I guess that will never happen as I doubt Branagh and Thompson would ever hare a scene again…
Just give me an extra series of Black Adder, please.
SECONDED!!
C’mon Rowan, put the band back together!
A proper series, not a “special”, a la “Back And Forth”, that would be incredible, as long as Richard Curtis and Ben Elton write it.
I knew these two from Jeeves and Wooster.
Fantastic, fantastic news! This is what I was hoping Laurie would do once House wrapped. Before House got picked up, the pair were supposed to do a Sherlock Holmes for ITV with Laurie as Watson and Fry as Holmes. I doubt that will happen now, but I’d still like to see it–among, hopefully, many other team-ups.
I’d also love to see Laurie finally get his Gunseller movie off the ground!
Yeah, been waiting for the screen version of Gunseller forever!!
If they did Sherlock Holmes, Laurie would HAVE to be Holmes, and Fry could only be Watson. That’s just how it would have to roll.
Just for voice work in an animated feature, according to Fry’s blog update.
I would like to see a Jeeves & Wooster crossover with Downton Abbey. Imagine the havoc Bertie could wreak!
I loved them in Jeeves and Wooster, too. Brilliant! And of course in the Blackadder series. Hilarious!
Branagh and Thompson together on screen again would be great!!!
Both men are accomplished actors and comedians so returning to work on future projects is a plus. Hopefully they will do a comedy with perhaps some drama thrown in to mix it up.
I can’t wait to see this and hopefully many projects to come with Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry. This is incredible news.
