BREAKING: After getting an Oscar nomination playing Brad Pitt’s wing man in Moneyball, Jonah Hill has just been set to star alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf Of Wall Street, the Martin Scorsese-directed adaptation of the Jordan Belfort memoir. Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter wrote the script.
The film chronicles Belfort’s dramatic rise and fall on Wall Street, along with his hard-partying lifestyle and tumultuous personal life, which included drug and alcohol addiction. Hill will play his close friend, who becomes Belfort’s business partner when the charismatic stock broker persuades him to quit his job in the furniture business to jump into the lucrative, volatile world of stocks.
Red Granite Pictures principals Riza Aziz and Joey McFarland stepped up to make the picture happen, and they are producing along with Appian Way’s DiCaprio, Sikelia Production’ Scorsese and Emma Koskoff, and EMJAG Productions’ Alexandra Milchan. Irwin Winkler and Georgia Kacandes will executive produce. Hill is repped by WME and Karl Austen.
Hill is coming off 21 Jump Street, the hit comedy that just crossed $175 million at the global box office. He next stars with Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn in The Watch, the comedy that had previously been titled Neighborhood Watch at Fox.

Will this role be played by fat Jonah or less-fat Jonah?
Maybe there will be a skinny Jonah.
Good for him. He gets a lot of hate, but he’s talented. Moneyball proved that.
No it didn’t! I never seen someone less deserving get nominated. What the hell did he do in that movie but look fat and expressionless?
Totally agree with you. I don’t get what Jonah Hill did in MONEYBALL to deserve an Oscar nod.
I agree with both of you. I guess someone likes him.
I find it funny that people on this site love to hate the females- Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Anniston, and the same actresses etc… , but they give this limited actor a free pass. Please !
He just played himself. A timid, intellectual type. No range to speak of. Overrated to the core.
People don’t like him – but I do. He’s a great actor and has made me laugh many times.
No doubt he’s funny, the problem is that People who’ve met him or worked with him don’t like him at all
Damn! Awesome!!
a long way from superbad
i’m sorry…but he is a horrible dramatic actor. he was so bad in moneyball, if he got nominated anyone can be. what is scorsese smoking??
As someone who hates all these brain-dead, stoner, bromance, hey dude, frat boy comedies Hill is usually in (including 21 Jump Street, which I refuse to see), let me be the first to say I liked him in “Moneyball.” He fits into the sidekick/best friend slot well. Good luck to him.
I worked with Jonah in Superbad. He was the nicest guy, and he took his work very seriously. He knew his cues, his marks, and all of his lines, always. He had a perpetual smile and was considerate of everyone on set. You could tell he appreciated the work, and felt himself to be lucky. I think he could play just about anything. He sure has a lot of empathy in him. I studied him close when I was on the set, because all of the crew kept saying he was going to be the next big thing. And he was, and hopefully, he will be, for a long time here in Hollywood. I wish him only the best. A real professional actor without an ego problem. Oh, and the best part, he can read.
He got his start in 10 Items or Less a little film Brad Silberling wrote and directed
Morgan Freeman was the lead, but he couldnt pull in the box office
Jonah better work on his rap and hit the gym of he wants to play this guy!
