Before A&E Network’s Breakout Kings, WME-repped Olmstead was an executive producer on Prison Break, which he also ran, and NYPD Blue. The future of Breakout Kings – which Olmstead co-created and exec produces with Nick Santora — after the current second season has not been determined, but its chances of continuing are not considered great.

Great news, Olmstead runs a tight ship!
I hope this doesn’t indicate anything bad for Breakout Kings.
The trailer actually intrigued me.
Was it the abs and shirts off or the bad acting between the two leads that hooked you?
I think Jesse Spencer looks really good in this, acting-wise and he proved to be great on House and Eamon Williams is a great actor.
Will this affect whether or not A&E renews Breakout Kings?
Definitely in contention for worst title for a new show.
Mob Doctor is worse.
My vote is for Made in Jersey.
Red Widow.
This ‘Chicago Fire’ drama doesn’t excite me any, still. Congrats to Matt, but this is one NBC show I won’t be watching. Sorry, not interesting to me. Dick Wolf show = standard procedure. Lame & Boring.
Lame and boring has made Dick Wolf a very successful man
Will he also be playing the role of Olmstead in the show?
Matt is the best that’s out there. This project just bought itself five seasons.
Breakout Kings took an interesting premise (albeit derivative: 48 Hours, Manhunter, et al) and managed to make a supremely boring show with surprisingly bland characters (how do you foul up an arc with T-Bag???). Unless it got better after episode 4, which is all I could manage. Painfully awful series.
Matt’s a great writer and mentor. I am forever in his debt.
Good call on Wolf’s part — a showrunner with some edge.
Sad news for BREAKOUT KINGS but great news for CHICAGO FIRE. Nobody is better than Olmstead. Sure to be badass and character driven. Well done NBC.
Sad news for Breakout Kings. Love that show. Great news for Chicago Fire and NBC. With Olmstead in-this could be the next ER or NYPD Blue.
As a viewer rather than an insider, I’m going to try and reserve judgment, but “Prison Break” became a spectacular mess after the first season, and the final season was horrible. Hope the same doesn’t happen with “Chicago Fire” if it makes it past S1.
That wasn’t Matt’s fault… that was the premise’s fault.
I’ll be watching “Chicago Fire” for Jesse Spencer who is a great drama actor!
Shame no season three best show on a&e.
got to bring the crew back! Great show! Wake up let’s get season three going! Now!
