Going into the upfronts, it became clear that the upcoming 13-episode season of 30 Rock would be the series’ last. And, after denying yesterday that a decision to end the show has been made, NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt today announced that the Emmy-winning comedy will indeed finish its run next season with an hourlong finale. “I know Tina, Alec (Baldwin) and the rest will deliver some of their best work,” Greenblatt said. “We think the world of Tina and hope she will be in the NBC family for years to come.”

Thank God- its dragged on way too long
Right, 30 Rock has dragged on, unlike Survivor, American Idol, CSI…
joe, I concur. this past season was awful. Plus, Tina Fey has become annoying, and Alec Baldwin’s EGO is always annoying.
Somebody forced you to watch it, Joe?
I agree with Joe, this show has become a bore.
All good things eventually come to an end. At least the network is allowing time for the show to complete story lines, etc. i only wished they had given Crossing Jordan the same consideration.
They suggest they want Tina Fey as part of the NBC family still? As a writer? Producer? I don’t want Tina in another show, I want more 30 Rock.
Dragged on too long or not… its the only show on Network tv thats actually funny and consistently so.
The only NBC comedy show I still watched (This along with Community)
It’s time they all move on.
Still funnier than Chelsea (cancelled, yay!) and Whitney (which should have been cancelled).
I suppose they ran out of celebrity guest star arcs. No show has looked more like The Love Boat in the past three years.
Tina will take a couple years off and return to NBC in a sitcom as a single mom raising two teenage daughters (One Day at a Time ripoff).
Am I crazy, or wasn’t it announced (probably this time last year) that THIS was going to be the last season?
I’m gonna miss this show! I can’t wait to see where the characters go in the final season.
While this season is dreadful compared to the previous five, it’s still a fantastic comedy show, especially when compared to everything that’s on television now. That being said, I’m glad they’re choosing to end it next season.
It’s about time as this show stayed on too long as it did.
Wow, I can’t say that I’ve loved every episode this season, but I’ve certainly liked them. Perhaps I am grading on a curve, since the show’s humor is more dense, complicated, and high-aiming than that of other shows, but whatever.
I just hope she continues to make shows at NBC. The network needs talented people. She clearly wants to make movies as well, but given the roster that “30 Rock” has cultivated, it shouldn’t be hard for her to do both.
