Mitt Romney will not be appearing on Saturday Night Live this season, Lorne Michaels said today. “We only have three shows left and they’re pretty jammed-packed,” the executive producer said during a conference call. “It might be in the fall, but we’ll never know, that’ll all depend on his availability.” SNL’s 37th season wraps up May 19. It will return in September in the heat of the presidential election campaign. In early April, Michaels extended an invitation to the former Massachusetts Governor to appear on the show, and Romney expressed interest in taking SNL up on the invite. “Of course,” Romney said, “it would depend on the nature of the skit. I want it to be funny.” Today Michaels confirmed he had some “communication” with the Romney campaign about the presumptive GOP nominee coming on, but then “the primaries overtook everything.”
A long list of White House occupants and contenders have taken the stage at Studio 8H over SNL‘s 37 seasons. Gerald Ford, Barack Obama, John McCain, Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin, among others, have appeared on the show. SNL cast member Jason Sudeikis frequently plays Romney on the show this season.
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning will host SNL on May 5, with musical guest Rihanna. Former SNL cast member Will Ferrell returns to the show May 12 with musical guest Usher. The host and musical guest of the May 19 season finale have not been announced.

gerald ford gets a name check but not Bob Dole? Bob Dole thinks this is an outrage! Bob Dole!
LOL!
Too bad. I would have written a sketch where he plays a Mormon missionary riding around on a tandem bicycle with an annoying overweight black Mormon (Keenan Thompson) who slows them down from doing God’s work.
Smart move, his critics would have said how unfunny he was all day Sunday…even if he was funny
His whole campaign has been a SNL skit. They couldn’t write anything funnier than the facts.
SNL has been one season-long campaign ad for Barry. Too bad MAD TV isn’t around anymore, as competition would bring balance to the procedings
If he wants it to be funny, he shouldn’t be talking to SNL.
SNL has it’s head too far up Obama’s butt to write anything funny at all. They are PETRIFIED of Obama jokes. The few times they have had Obama anything it looked like a guy touching a hot stove. Meanwhile Obama himself will show up on SNL in October or so and it of course will be THE BEST TV APPEARANCE BY ANYONE EVER according to the Obamamedia.
SNL used to be funny, and more importantly it used to be relevant. It is neither anymore and I’m glad Mr. Romney distanced himself from this crappy show.
SNL is not funny at all. Their skits are pathetic. If they had any sense of humor they’d be doing an Obama dog eating skit.
I hope they cancel that show soon.
It appears their audience is on people that live in NY these day, guess its funny to them. the show used to know how to make fun of everyone but now they just hammer their liberal bias home…..haven’t watch but a couple of time this year….
The show is horrible- none of the characters or the skits are funny. The show should be taken off the air- it has not been funny for a very long time. Mr Romney does not need to waste his time with them.
Its smart not to do SNL. SNL is obviously in the tank for Obama. Maybe you kids don’t remember when SNL used to make fun of Presidents. But they did. Oh and look how well a SNL appearance worked for Palin. You kids had Tina Fey’s comments confused with Palin all through out the campaign. No, I don’t think I would enter into enemy territory. The media has proved compliant and useful for Obama. I would rather talk about his record than Romney’s SNL appearance.
Gas prices are higher than three years ago. UE is higher than 3 years ago. Did you know that if people didn’t keep dropping out of the labor force altogether and the BLS stayed the same we would be at 12% UE right now? Thank God for the DOL adjusting the BLS to drop people out of the denominator if you love Obama. But its a lie.
