Oxygen today announced The Face, a new reality modeling competition series. Supermodel Naomi Campbell will be one of the three coaches that lead contestants through the Shine America-produced series as they battle on and off the runway to be a national spokesperson. Scouting and picking aspiring models from all over the world, Campbell and the other two coaches, as yet unnamed, will mentor a team through the rigors of the modeling industries. The winner of The Face will become the face of a major brand, also as yet unnamed. The series is part of the NBCUniversal owned network’s strategy to increase its original programming by 50%. Oxygen, which renewed The Glee Project for a second season, recently announced five other new series including Girlfriend Confidential: NY & Girlfriend Confidential: LA.

Oh lawd, I smell a beat down
Thank God for Oxygen and modeling reality shows. They help provide entertainment for the under-served viewing audience of gay men and women with eating disorders that can’t find this sort of show on any other network except for all the other networks on basic cable that are showing them. Just what the world needs: another show about models.
Naomi Campbell is involved? I don’t see what could possibly go wrong.
Hope they have a LOT of insurance.
We are all entittled to our own opinion but none of you know Naomi and of all the supermodels and personalities within the fashion/modeling industry she seems to be the only one who owns her flaws and takes repsonsibility for her bad behavior and admits that she is not perfect, above reproach and is a work in progress. Her personal life is media fodder so none of us should believe every hogwash story of sorts that is published. And since I am a fashion historian, in terms of Supermodels who better to critique and offer guidance/mentorship to a crop of upcoming mdoels whose careers have not jumpstarted yet. Would you prefer ANTM style judges who have helped noone of those girls become model success’s, except the 3 winners during Andre Leon Tally’s tenure as a judge. To be honest we all know the winner for 18 season has been none other than the tyrant of a judge who makes every single panel about her and the whole show about her, Tyra Banks. I would watch Naomi Camobell judge, critque and mentor models on The Face and as a judge for any other realty show based on a job within the fashion/modeling industry than Tyra any f’in day! So based on Naomi’s career which you can go online and see how relevant, groundbreaking and successful it has been, The Face will finally give the fashion/modeling inudstry a boost of positive press, whereas ANTM, people who think Jessica Simpson, Kanye West and Nicole Ritchie & J-lo are designers, and The Devil Wears Prada(the book)have given it negative press. And rather Naomi has thrown a cell phone or not and lashed out at her assistant there is always 3 sides to each tabloid story, Naomi’s recount of events, the other parties and the truth…so you bloody wnakers can believe hogwash all you want I believe and stand by Naomi in support of her career anyday.
