  • looks so good, don’t know why it was delayed for so long.

    • It’s an okay film. Michael Shannon is amazing in it, as usual. There are a few asian stereo types, but not a terrible movie by any means.

It was put on hold because of marketing issues, but has been done for over a year. The Dark Knight should help this film break even.

      • This seems to be more of an interesting movie that most trailers, so don’t know why there are marketing issues.

        • I’m with jake on this, I don’t know why there would be marketing problems it seems much better than most crap in cinemas right now.

  • Looks better than before, I suppose. Love JGL, yet I still can’t get on board with this for some reason.

  • It was delayed because the movie is pretty bad. Production was completed a couple of years ago

    • It’s not bad. I’ve seen it. It’s a B+ thriller. It’s fun and doesn’t take itself too seriously. Great editing/pacing and Michael Shannon steals every scene.

  • Feels like Speed and will either be a modest hit or be playing at the two dollar movies two weeks out from release. I’ll give JGL props for taking a chance though.

  • Who is his agent, and why did he let him in this? It makes him look like a dweeb. That helmet is awful on him. Maybe it was all his idea.

David Koepp wrote this? It was beyond dull. Formulaic with terrible dialogue. Maybe it will do well overseas, but it’s just a waste of awesome actors.

  • Jamie Chung is the best thing about this trailer.

Comment by Jeff — Thursday May 31, 2012 @ 11:16pm PDT  Reply to this post
  • One of the best trailers of the year.

This looks like it could be the sleeper hit of the summer. A new SPEED!

Why was it delayed? Because it does not feature any huge explosions or gratuitous violence. It does not have a huge star in it. It is not an adaptation of a comic book.

Hence – the marketing department did not know what to do.

So they waited for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES in order to focus on JGL.

All the badmouthing of this film is done by nerds who don´t have any insight into the actual production history but listen to sources who are just envious of David Koepp´s position within the industry.

    • “Best trailers of the year”?

You’ve lost any credibility with that opening line.

I love JGL but this looks like supercrap. I hope he got PAID.

Comment by moniue — Friday June 1, 2012 @ 9:35am PDT  Reply to this post
    • You’re right about gratuitous violence but a huge explosion may help. The trailer tried it’s best to trick the audience into thinking they’ll experience an adrenaline rush as they watch a nerd ride a bicycle. Plus, the slide under the big rig truck can only be done if JGL is wearing Heelys- I hope they got that right.

Plot may be great but seriously, a bicycle? Not Matt Hoffman bouncing off cars, doing double backflips, or tail-whipping a car window and it’s definitely not Keanu in Speed… It’s a nerd peddling on a regular bike.

I’m sure the masses will flock because those of us who drive in LA, NY, etc really appreciate bicyclists cutting us off on the road who seem to feel that “Share The Road” means “Bicyclists have the right of way.”

  • Didn’t Kevin Bacon make this movie 25 years ago?

  • heh, remember when bike messengers were a thing, like 25 years ago?

I don’t know how to break it to the filmmakers but bike messengers are almost all out of business these days due to the internet. (actually, most were killed by FAX MACHINES! pre-internet)

If this was made as a ‘period’ movie it might have had a chance, otherwise …

  • “Quicksilver” meets “Enemy of the State”.

Of course, I’ll see it for Michael Shannon.

Comment by CynicalCritic — Friday June 1, 2012 @ 8:29am PDT  Reply to this post
  • Why did it take them so long to re-make Quicksilver? The really captured the public’s imagination back in the mid-80′s and comes up in almost every conversation I have with people about bike messenger movies.

  • They should have gone with a Nirvana soundtrack to give it a more contemporary feel.

  • Should we now assume its title is ironic for how long this movie sat in the can?
