The penultimate episode of ABC’s Desperate Housewives (2.8/7) jumped 12% from last week as the veteran dramedy is heading to its two-hour series finale next Sunday. Its lead-out, the season finale of GCB (1.8/5) didn’t get a bump, down a tenth from its fast national last week, flat with the finale. Leading into Desperate Housewives was Once Upon A Time (3.0/8), up a tenth from its fast national last week, flat with the final, and once again the top program of the night among adults 18-49. It had some help from America’s Funniest Home Videos (2.0/7), which was up a whopping 33% from last week to dominate the 8 PM hour and rank higher than any series on NBC last night. (Dateline, at 0.7/2, and Harry’s Law, 0.7/2, were both down 13% from last week, with Harry’s Law hitting a series low. Celebrity Apprentice, 1.9/5, was flat with its fast national last week, down a tenth from the final.) ABC won the night in adults 18-49, CBS was tops in total viewers.
CBS was paced by the two-hour season finale of The Amazing Race (2.6/7), which was even with last spring’s finale. With The Amazing Race vs. The Good Wife as a lead-in, struggling rookie drama about rookie cops NYC 22 (1.3/3) was up a tenth. At 7:30 PM, Fox’s The Cleveland Show (1.4/4) was down a tenth from last week. The Simpsons (2.1/6) was down 9%, Bob’s Burgers (1.8/5) was off 5%. Family Guy (2.7/7) was down a tenth, while American Dad (2.3/5) was up 15% from its last original five weeks ago and 21% from the episode of Cleveland Show, which aired in the slot last week.

Really been digging Harrys Law. It’s had 5 great episodes in a row but can’t seem to move the needle in the right direction in the demo.
I completely agree with Jasie…
It’s rather ironic about the demo too because the last few episodes have been playing up the 18-49 demo issues and addressing them on the series. I hope this show gets picked up for another season, because it is getting more entertaining, it just needs the right lead in. Gotta admit I am a huge fan of David E Kelley, he earned my loyalty with Picket Fences and The Practice. Picket Fences was never a ratings bonanza and The Practice struggled as well in the beginning until ABC put it behind Who Wants To Be A Millionaire at the height of it’s popularity. Not expecting a miracle but Harry’s Law deserves more.
I missed last night’s HARRY because I didn’t get home in time and later discovered to my horror that it’s not available On Demand. That’s gotta be costing them some viewers.
I don’t watch a lot of network tv, but have seen the last 2 episodes of NYC 22. I have to say what a misfire on CBS’ part by not properly marketing this new show and dumping it at the end of the season. There was absolutely no promotion for this show, yet it’s still managed to settle in and find a decent sized audience that would warrant a second season at any other network. Refreshing to see real characters, great storytelling live on a network.
@jasie-agreed on Harry’s Law. It’s actually a pretty good show on which the writing has improved lately. That 0.7 is not good at all.So, I’m worried about that. The only advantage HL has for renewal is the fact it airs on Nbc. Being on Nbc may get it renewed-maybe. This network has so many shows failing left & right,so, it’s quite possible they’ll keep Harry’s Law around-we’ll see. Hopefully it will be renewed & NOT replaced with another reality show or something of that nature.
Interesting numbers: America’s Funniest Home Videos- up 33% and starting to run away from the rest of the 7pm shows; OUAT and Desperate Housewives- both could possibly top 3.0 in the finals and both building towards HUGE finales; GCB 1.8 demo- CANCELLED!?; NBC’s anemic numbers- 0.7-0.7-1.9; FOX- unstable animation block and overall down significantly from last year; CBS- down and out of gas- 1.3 for NYC22; Where is the old CBS? CBS is in a state of dying and denial.
I already sense NYC 22 and GCB will be canceled as those numbers are not acceptable and thank goodness DH is finally being shown the door but the ratings have spiked due to it winding down next weekend. As always, Trump will claim he saved NBC for another week after the bad ratings for Harry’s Law. Good show but needs to be placed in a better timeslot if it is going to survive in the long run.
