eye of the beholder nikki…usually you are spot on but..this is old and stale..sick of it and him… b o r i n g . i am sick of folks acting like idiots then laughing at the fools that pay money to see it as they drive to the bank. i think he is way overrated and appealing just to insiders who still think it is hip to like him.

plus is no one considering the ramifications of a jewish man mocking a muslim dictator to make money off this movie..the entire process has been coated with bad vibes. and i think we will suffer for this.
Deadline comment sections are the most bitter place on the Internet. This comment will also be deleted because that’s what Deadline does. Kind of like communist Russia…silence the dissidents.
Deadline comments seem to get deleted more out of some random glitch in the software than any intent that I’ve been able to discern. Often a comment goes up, goes away, comes back. It’s not about you : )

So glad to hear someone else say that! I thought it was just me.
Not so, Procrastinating Again. I’ve fallen foul of over-PC and irony-challenged moderation several times. Like when I commented on how Deadline uses non-English speaking, Asian child-labourers to… MMMMMPPPPPHHHHHH!!!!!

You are a traitor and a dissident and you will be sent to the gulag for life. Your comment was subversive that’s why it was censored. What? It wasn’t censored? Never mind. You are still a traitor to the gulag with you!

What a delusionally self-important thought. It’s a moderated show-biz site, not some government conspiracy to keep you down.

Thanks for the spoiler warning of SBC’s appearance. Can you wait until 1 AM PST to post next time? I still like to be surprised. And, sometimes I check Deadline while watching SNL. But, if you want me to stop …
Waahhhh Someone who is successful is doing the thing that made him successful… What a bunch of crybaby bitches around here.

That made me cringe. Sacha, for the love of God, STOP this crap. It has never been funny, and never will. He’s better off acting in other people’s films.
I dont like how he disrespected the Oscars with his antics.
He was funny maybe 5 or 10 years ago, but I agree he is more infuriating than funny now.
The SNL skit was a way to promote the movie and the skit was not that funny either.

HA! “disrespected the Oscars”.

Maybe a junket video of him setting in front of a poster of the movie while he talks about what a joy it was to work with the director and costars is more your speed.
Sad to see Marty expose himself like that. And yes — haven’t watched SNL since I was a kid. It’s simply never that funny. Sacha Baron Cohen is a genius, but he always risks over-plugging. Can’t blame him.
That’s American entertainment, though, ain’t it. Publicity trumps art.
The Dictator will kill, especially among 20-somethings. Looking forward to day when SBC makes a slightly more mature comedy. Borat was, of course, brilliant. This one seism a bit more on the nose, as it were.
Considering Cohen is British and did this sort things for years in Britain on a British TV show, I don’t think it’s fair to use him to criticize American entertainment. There are enough other examples to use.
Eli was ‘cute’ last night, but couldn’t hold up against his older brother – NOT because he couldn’t be as funny, but that the current writing on the show is GOD AWFUL. Weekend Update (with Sasha) was painful and cringe inducing.

A great social satirist. A fine actor. Looking forward to the movie. Hope it doesn’t become numbing and go south twenty minutes in like the last one.

You’re right, thanks for saving my eyesight. I guess this stunt was Marty’s penance for Bringing Out The Dead.

Saying that this isn’t getting old was sarcasm, right? Please tell me it was sarcasm.

Funny, but Marty has NO shame anymore.
sad, but true comment by Jake L. He can be talked into things sometime.
Stale? Old? Nah, just gut wrenching painful. Which describes SNL as well.
I think he was torturing the audience.
This character seems like a glorified Borat. He is running out of material…
Well, if this movie bombed, at lease we’ll know it’s not because of marketing.
Well-played. There’s more wit in your comment than the movie.
Funny!

ugggh. The shark has been jumped on this one.
Come on, the Aviator bit was precious. I like Baron Cohen.
Meh. Makes me long for the good old days of early SNL.
Cohen is a riot , saw Dictator las week and it’s hilarious !
It doesn’t count if you were paid to see it, and then comment on it, but thanks anyway.
I’ll laugh when they do the same shtick about CIA and US military torturers.
