They totally had me until the announcer said, “…and Sarah Silverman.”
LUKE KIRBY!! where the hell have you been you darling man. this looks good.
Michelle Williams, hell yes.
Seth Rogan, hell no.
I just jumped the Seth…
“Now on demand, in theaters June 29th”? Really?
I would have thought I’d seen it all when Disney released Avengers early overseas — that action completely blew the arguments that piracy was killing Hollywood out of the water.
But releasing a movie “On Demand” before it shows up in the theaters is astonishing. Your most passionate viewers are going to see it early. Is this meant to build up demand for the theatrical release? Are the on-demand viewers supposed to talk it up to their friends, so that they go see it in the theaters?
The real artists in Hollywood are in marketing. I’ll be curious to see how this plays out.
Yes, it’ll be interesting to see how this plays out, since once a movie is released on-demand, you can bet it’s going to end up online and in crisp quality in a matter of days, if not hours. Somehow, one thinks that this has to hurt the business of the film.
However, this movie had me at “from director Sarah Polley”. “Away From Her” was absolutely astonishing, and this one has Michelle Williams. So I simply gotta see this.
I saw this at the TriBeCa Film Fest. Every actor in this film, including Sarah Silverman, nailed it. So good. I hope people go see it in theatres.
Saw movie at screening. Michelle deserves 3rd consecutive Best Actress Oscar nomination for this performance. Polley is the real deal, as you could probably tell from AWAY FROM HER. See this movie if you care about emotional honesty in film/performance.
