TBS last night premiered its first original series using its high-flying off-network comedy, The Big Bang Theory, as a launching pad. New comedy Men at Work drew 2.65 million total viewers, 1.63 million adults 18-49 and 851,000 adults 18-34 at 10 PM. That was up 14% in 18-34 and 7% in 18-49 from the Big Bang Theory repeats TBS ran in the Thursday 10 PM slot for the past four weeks. (Big Bang served as a lead-in to Men At Work last night). Additionally, the guy-oriented series created by Breckin Meyer garnered more men 18-34 (395,000) than any previous TBS original sitcom premiere, good news for TBS’ male-skewing late-night talk show Conan. (TBS’ aired a second episode of Men at Work at 10:30 PM, averaging 2.29 million total viewers, 778,000 (18-34) and 1.43 million (18-49).

In the main ratings categories, Men At Work was behind most of TBS’ noteworthy sitcom premieres in the past 5 years, Are We There Yet? Men edged one other half-hour TBS comedy that premiered at 10 PM, the 2006 My Boys (1.78 million total viewers; 1.63 million adults 18-49; 756,000 adults 18-34) The Sony TV-produced Men at Work centers on four buddies who work together at a magazine.

This “guy” oriented comedy? Maybe if by “guys” you’re referring to guys who think that those Miller Lite commercials about losing your “man card” are funny. “Hey, let’s make surface level jokes about ‘men’ who love chicks, beer and pizza. And, let’s put them all at a magazine where they can talk about doing work, but where they never actually do any work. HILARIOUS.” Writers of Men at Work.
Down right simply awful.
This is one of the worst shows in a long time. It makes Work It look good in comparison. Not one true laugh. It should make everyone associated with it ashamed. How does shit like this get on the air?
When “Meet the Browns” beats you in both ratings and quality, reconsider everything.
It was NOT funny…..so disappointed.
glad to see TBS back in the multi cam space with a PIECE OF CRAP. this is the demise of TV. these people have no clue
I had real hopes for this thing. I was speechless after watching it. Could not believe how bad it was. Needless to say won’t watch another episode
Just awful…not funny at all. Stupid jokes, and not an ounce of wit to be found.
They work at a magazine? A magazine! What was their first choice,
rotary telephone repairmen?
Oh, I get it, because “magazines” are antiquated, right? Yeah, you never see those for sale anywhere… like supermarkets… or airports… or magazine stands…
Wanted to like it. I was hoping it could be a show the hubs and I watched together…. onsead the humor seemed like it was written by and for a 14 year old boy.
Show was awful! None of the four male leads came across as being sympathetic or in any way likable. Maybe I’m becoming a ‘geezer’ but I also felt this show’s attitude towards women was uncomfortable to watch. All they seem to selfishly aspire to is hooking up with Stepford-ish women. Both guys and gals would look upon these delusional Romeos as “idiots” and ” jerks”.
The worst show I have ever seen. I tried to laugh, but I could not, it was that awful.
Just awful , I had hopes that maybe this program would be another “Big Bang Theory” , where intelligence abounded . But instead , it was boring , not even close to being funny and the witt , was non-existant .
Ofcourse they drew a large numbers for the first viewing , everyone was expecting comedy ! That didn’t happen .
After seeing what seemed like a million commercials for this show I wanted to check it out, and after 30 mins of this show I felt dumber for watching it. Probably the least enjoyable show on television! Complete garbage.
Tired, pathetic, and predicable. Foolish dudebro antics from guys well past their prime. {Yawn.} TBS, maybe it’s time to retire from the new sitcom biz and stick with reruns.
Honestly, watching a random Seinfeld episode on TBS a million times would be more entertaining and worth your time than this generic, sub humor piece of junk. It says a lot when your best written and witty comedy on your network is a show that officially ended its run nearly 15 years ago! Christ, as if this network couldn’t sink lower with Tyler Perry’s awful tablescraps that are his show, they pull this turd out…lol.
(T)hese (B)oys (S)uck at acting.
This program is the worst TBS has put on the air. Woman should be respected on not be placed on a shoe like this. TBS should take this into consideration.
Others have nailed it on the head. Why do tv/film writers always portray young adult men in this way? Every single production targeting the male demographic has the characters being dumb and obnoxious, with exaggerated masculine interests (i.e. girls, beer, sports, food, etc). Real life is not like this. No guy I know acts like the ‘manly men’ in those stupid beer commercials. Yet the format of this show is basically one long beer commercial. The guys are all about as deep as a puddle. This show is so generic and predictable. Not funny at all.
TBS has clearly failed at producing original programming. Every show they green-light sucks real bad and not surprisingly gets cancelled. TBS, just stick to showing reruns of good shows made on other networks.
This show is miserable. I have no idea who finds this funny. Not only does the laugh track button get over worked, the punch lines are not even humorous. If there is a season 2 I’ll be surprised.
fuck all of you this show is funny !!!
