The CW today gave early renewals to its three strongest scripted series: flagship The Vampire Diaries, veteran Supernatural and 90210. The Vampire Diaries will return for its its fourth season, 90210 for its fifth and Supernatural for its eighth. There are no surprises in the pickups as all three had been certain to return. Of the network’s bubble shows – Gossip Girl, Nikita, The Secret Circle, Ringer and Hart Of Dixie – the bets are on Gossip Girl, Hart Of Dixie and possibly Nikita coming back. Gossip Girl is a big DVR gainer and has been a signature show for the CW that could go well together with Carrie Diaries, Hart Of Dixie has been very strong in online viewing, and Nikita is a big international seller for the CW’s sister studio Warner Bros TV. Further complicating things for Ringer, which already had little chance of continuing with its low ratings and dense-bordering-on-confusing storylines, is the fact that star Sarah Michelle Gellar, who plays two roles on the show, is pregnant. (Unless both twin sisters fell pregnant at the same time.) Word is the CW will also pick up as many as 5-6 new series, with Arrow, The Carrie Diaries, Beauty & The Beast, First Cut, Cult and the Hunger Games-esque The Selection considered frontrunners. The network is said to be looking to have a lot more originals on the air throughout a season next season.

Wake me when Teddy is back, Silver isn’t ho’ing around or dying and when they cut the main cast from 22 to 4 regulars. Who at the CW made the decision to lose the only likable character on the worst show? sans Gossip Girl. A team of untrained monkey’s in diapers could of told you the coming out story resonated with people. Anyways, I say take 90210 out back, shoot it and put it out of it’s misery.
I really hope Hart of Dixie is renewed, its such a unique show, so laidback and easy to watch.

The Secret Circle’s likely cancellation is statistically impossible, have you seen its numbers? Hart of Dixie is doing very poorly, Nikita is on life support and all its takes is to ‘call it’ for Ringer. So who came up with this and why are you betting on losing horses here?
I really don’t get it why NIKITA is not the most watched CW show in the US. It certainly is the one with best quality! Gossip Girl’s been so bad lately that I stopped watching it because I honestly feel ashamed I onece loved it… The right thing is to renew NIKITA and maybe promote it a little better!
90210 has been in the crapper for the last 2 yrs and it can’t help launch another show smh.
Wow, I love how you guys are not even betting on TSC, and I wonder why… because of two bad episodes that TVD also suffered through? if Nikita was going to be renewed it would have been announced today with all the other veteran CW shows… GG may or may not come back for a 13 episode finish…the showrunner is gone, while CW can’t really bank on new pilots, what if they dont work out? TSC has a solid fan base, and is an international phenom. Its DVR ratings averages + 50 to 65% on top of LIVE. Hart of Dixie is boring! And why would CW wanna upset the guy who brought them their highest rated pedigree that is about to go to syndication? The Vampire Diaries… are you forgetting who the executive producer is? (does Kevin Williamson) ring a bell?

I see this as a chance for 90210 to redeem itself. The cast is likable enough but they need to throw more cats in with the pigeons. It’s boring and the guest stars are pretty uneventful. The storylines never come to a head, like if you’re going to go to crazy town, really go there.
It plays too much like a post-Bush doesn’t want to offend anyone lamefest. The Clinton era original really knew how to put on a show. For instance, the character Ivy gets addicted to pot and Dixon gets addicted to ritalin. What is this the 6th grade?
The original 90210 had David Silver getting addicted to blow. Kelly LITERALLY got burned. The old Fox just took it there, the CW needs to shake the squareness of it’s predecessor the WB and be less of girl-a-thon.
Ringer is horrible on every level. Awful acting, looks cheap as hell, dumb storyline full of holes. I actually wanted to like it but SMG is not the actress to portray twin sisters. She doesn’t have the swagger or the ability to sell those characters as different women. It just feels like you’re watching Sarah Michelle Gellar acting. It doesn’t even begin to compare with Emily Van Camp’s amazing, nuanced performance in Revenge (which is the best show on TV right now bar none).
Teddy is returning next week to set the stage for season 5 lol

Nikita should get renewed, out of all of the cw shows it is the best. i have watched almost all of the cw shows and it is the only show worth watching. All though i love Chace Crawford Gossip Girl should be canceled the story line got terrible this season.
i enjoyed watching TVD i wouldn’t miss is last season but lately i haven’t felt the need to watch it this season even though it comes out on a Thursday. Nikita is a awesome show it has romance and action and it has a good cast. Even though it comes out on Fridays i go out of my way to watch it. It would suck if it gets canceled.
If you had told me last fall I’d be rooting for the Rachel Bilson show over the SMG one, I would have laughed at you. And yet here we are.

The only shows I watch on the CW are The Vampire Diaries, Nikita and The LA Complex.
I knew The Vampire Diairies would be renewed so I’m just waiting for the CW to announce Nikita’s fate. I really hope it gets renewed for another season. It’s really one of the best show on the CW!
Anyone here watch The LA Complex as well? It’s surprisingly a very well written show. Hope more people would give it a chance because I’m sure they’ll like it too.
Nikita and Heart of Dixie might make the cut but Ringer won’t and don’t even think for a minute LA Complex is going to make it, let alone survive another week of brutal ratings. Secret Circle is 50-50 on renewal, depending on what holes they need to fill in their schedule.
I really hope they keep The Secret Circle!! I love that show, I look forward to Thursday nights because of that show!

Hart of Dixie is a great show and absolutely should get a 2nd season. I saw it from the beginning and everyone at my work now watches it. It’s very “Gilmore Girl-ish”…we all love watching it. Plus, it depicts life in the south about as well as any show I’ve seen. Long live Bluebell!!!!!!!
