TNT has passed on its Western drama pilot Tin Star aka Gateway. The move comes after TNT brass screened the network’s three completed pilots – Tin Star, Monday Mornings (aka Chelsea General) and Scent Of The Missing. TNT is not expected to make series pickups today, but Monday Mornings had been the clear frontrunner, with the search-and-rescue drama Scent Of The Missing also in serious contention. Tin Star was shot last fall. TNT did not make a decision when the pilot was delivered, instead opting to wait for its other pilots. TNT’s fourth pilot of the current batch, Frank Darabont’s L.A. Noir, is still filming. Along with the broadcast networks and USA, TNT is holding its upfront presentation next week. The action/adventure Tin Star, executive produced by Bruce C. McKenna and Danny Cannon, was set in a Colorado town in the 1880s. It told the story of three brothers who step in to save their town when their sheriff father is murdered, pitting them against a corrupt cattle baron determined to make the town his own.

Was a bad script. Surprised they made it.
Wow…does that kill Danny Cannon’s pilot streak?
Anything that makes it more likely LA Noir will get picked up is good.
I agree!
Come onnnn, Monday Mornings. Mediocre source material that manages to have terrific characters, tons of potential for a series.
Love DEK shows. Hope Harrys Law gets a renewal. Not sure I care for the name change of Chelsea Gerneral to Monday Mornings but I will watch if its ordered.
My bet’s on Scent of the Missing. Can’t miss with a well-produced dog drama.
Ah man, that’s too bad. This was one of two pilots I was hoping TNT would pick up. It sounded different and better then Hell on Wheels (what a disappointment). Still rooting for LA Noir (which, lets be honest, is VERY HIGHLY unlikely to not be picked up) and Monday Mornings (Gotta say, David E. Kelley shows are just… good). Could go either way on Scent of the Missing, depends on the pilot.
re: DEK, ever see Wonder Woman?
Mac, thanks for confirming what I’ve been thinking (but still concerned about), that barring some incomprehensible disaster, LA Noir is a lock.
Oh PS, I agree, Hell on Wheels is disappointing. NBC may still pick up its Western, The Frontier. Fingers crossed.
I hope drama pilot “Scent of the Missing”, starring Tricia Helfer, Eric Winter and Summer Glau, will be picked up.
I followed the filming in December 2011 for fansite Summer Glau Wiki and it seems they managed to film a vibrant and touching story, based on the book by Susannah Charleson.
I don’t know if the script was good or bad but I was sure looking forward to a Western. TNT must not realize there are a lot of us women out here who absolutely love cowboys! Nothing hotter than a tall rugged good looking man on a horse. I’m really sick and tired of all the suit/tie/wanna-be detective nerd shows based in LA and NY. I live in the southwest and would love to see our area represented. Bring back the westerns and hot cowboys!
I agree with Luvs Tall Cowboys! I was looking forward to a new western with dusty manly men and period costumes. Guess I’ll have to fire up Lonesome Dove.
