EXCLUSIVE: The leading men of CBS‘ veteran comedy Two And A Half Men are staying put. I’ve learned that Ashton Kutcher, Jon Cryer and Angus T. Jones, whose contracts were up at the end of this season, are inches away from an agreement in principal for new one-year deals that will bring them back for next season — the series 10th and second with Kutcher as the star after he replaced Charlie Sheen. Word is that the trio are returning at their current salaries, with all three getting signing bonuses. Kutcher is believed to be earning about $700,000 per episode, Cryer a bit less and Jones $300,000 an episode. Jones’ bonus at the last contract re-upping was $500,000.

With the Kutcher, Cryer and Jones deals pretty much done, CBS, which had been negotiating with the trio, is turning its attention to hammering out a new license deal with Warner Bros TV, the studio that produces Two And A Half Men. That deal is expected to close by CBS’ upfront presentation May 16 if not sooner. While Kutcher, Cryer and Jones have agreed to only one season, and there has been speculation that Men co-creator/showrunner Chuck Lorre is considering ending the series after 10 seasons, no final decision has been made whether to make next season the series’ last.
Securing Men is key to CBS’ plan to possibly expand its comedy presence on Thursday and air two-hour comedy blocks on both Monday and Thursday. The veteran comedy, along with renewed How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory and 2 Broke Girls, would provide anchors at 8 PM and 9 PM on both nights.

With all the focus on Charlie’s meltdown and Ashton as his replacement the reality that Jon Cryer makes this show is often overlooked.
Without Cryer…there is no Two and A Half Men.
Well said jon
lmaoooooooooooooooooooo
Alan is more pathetic than ever and not funny anymore, Jon Cryer is just ‘Ducky’.
this show sucks with out charlie. i will not watch it with ashton kutcher in it he messed up a good show
It’s true, Jon Cryer is the most important Character in this show. Jones is just as important. We watched the Character of Jake grow up. A whole new sitcom or spinoff could of been made with Jones as the Character of Jake. Ashton is nice to look at but provides nothing new. The character of Walden is just a taller unrelated version of Charlie.
Once again it shows that TV executives have no clue. I could have seen re-upping the show if the would have dumped the guy that does camera commercials, how he gets paid more than Cryer is just stupid.
It sucks that Kutcher makes more than the show’s vets (though they do pretty well, especially the kid for, what, two lines a week?). Who annointed Kutcher a “star”? His movies bomb.
I think I’d rather watch the Kardashians faux drama show. That’s how horrible 2.5 Men has become with Ashton Kutcher.
Another season of this filthy, lewd, crude, disgusting excuse for a “comedy”. End of the world can’t come soon enough for me.
Cryer making less than Kutcher?..no way!!
The kid makes THAT much?!?! I hate life
Having worked briefly w/Cryer, he’s an astoundingly adept actor. Straight/foil roles are harder than the clown’s. The salary structure is in the producers’ arena. Greed minus fear = fee.
Hey Mayans why don’t you do us a favor and end your world today.
If CBS really believes in this show they should renew it for at least 10 years if it’s good enough for one more season there’s no reason it can’t be successful for another decade.
The problem is Kutcher’s character is a mess. He started as the man-child, which for some reason Lorre thought would be “hilarious”, but the tone of the character didn’t fit into the series. It was the wrong kind of humor and it just didn’t work. So then they revamped him, had Kutcher shave and now his character Walden doesn’t act like a man child. Problem is, now he has no distinctive personality. Since he isn’t a playboy boozer and shmoozer like Charlie’s character, there’s not much to play off of between Cryer’s goodie two shoes character who is neurotic and bad at life, and Kutcher’s boring character, who now is simply just a rich, goodlooking guy without a personality. The whole thing is a huge mess. Cryer’s Alan is a cartoonish version of the way he used to be; he doesn’t even act like a good father anymore and there are no “sweet” moments in the show like there were in the early seasons. Look, this isn’t GREAT show, never was, but at least it had heart. And humor. Now it’s got neither.
Also, they haven’t known what to do with the kid in years. He just says a line or two once a week and that’s it. They could’ve really figured out a way to keep him relevant if they tried, but they didn’t. Lorre said this is now a “couples show”, about Kutcher and his girlfriend and Cryer and the chick from Belushi’s sitcom, but that’s not why people originally tuned in. It was supposed to be about Two and a Half Men. Now it’s about NOTHING BECAUSE I DON’T WATCH IT ANYMORE!
I agree. Don’t like the show now that Charlie is gone. I watch it once in a while but, it’s not as good. I miss Berta and Charlie and Rose on the show and the mother! Those people plus Alan really made the show! Alan(jon Cryer is a good actor but his script has just gotten pathetic more so than before)! The kid was funny when he hd Charlie as the uncle. Kathy Bates is a good actress but I didn’t like her playing Charlie. Come on bury the show! The producers should have kept Charlie in the back ground and not fired him so they could have brought him back at some point (when he cleaned up his act) but now we know Charlie isn’t ever going to return forgitaboutit! Not worth watching! It isn’t going anywhere! Too bad as I loved that show! When they killed Charlie they killed the show! They need to have all the actors and actresses in the house all at once and do a mishap that ends the show with one big bang! Have Rose do something that backfires one of her antics or something!
HoneyComb, I agree with everything you said but you left out one important thing…the writing has deteriorated markedly. There are no funny lines and the humor depends almost entirely on bodily functions. Kutcher isn’t bad but he has not been given much to work with. I don’t miss Charlie Sheen as much as I miss the wonderfully funny interplay between the characters especially between Berta and the “men”. They need to rehire the original writers in order to keep their audience which is gradually deserting this show.
Oh good… I can continue not watching.
So now it is a show about relationships is it? Rich guy played by sitcom vet struggles with committment, tech savvy guy tries to work on and towards a long term relationship but is always getting in his own well intentioned way, young guy used as scene filler has most boring relationship. I’m pretty sure at CBS they already call that show Rules Of Engagement. Anyway I’m so upset at this whole turn of events that I’m going to have to get myself a good dose of anger management.
I bet Charlie Sheen’s 20 minute interview would give you more laughs than entire season 8 of 2.5 men.
This is really exciting news Two and a Half Men is my favourite show and to hear that it is coming back for Season 10 is awesome.
I wonder if the numbers are good, and the money is good, we’ll see a season 11
yes the money awsome, Kutcher is going to make a million a episode
Zoey is more Ashton’s mother, and the audience knows this show should just go away…Casting sucks people….Judith and Herb need to come back full time, and Ashton, plain and simple needs to go away for good…Bring on an actor that has done comedy before….Robin Williams, Billy Crystal, and then there is Rose, that would bring the ratings up to American Idol numbers, Rose gets the upstairs room, and she works at the Malibu bar….please Zoey and Ashton, you need to both just leavvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve the show….for good. And by the way, since I’m on the subject, women rock this world Lee….they just do..wake up….
2.5 Men is horrible, I use to watch it all the time but now I can’t stand it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another year of a terrible show!
The vastly better news is that I hear really great things about Sheen’s new show “Anger Management” from a pal who’s working on it. I’ll watch that instead, I miss Charlie, he can’t get back on television soon enough for me!
I don’t want to dump on Angus Jones – I wish him all the best; however, I’m guessing a lot of people will be scratching their heads over his new salary. I had to re-read his salary five times to ensure I wasn’t hallucinating. At $300,000.00/episode [I just typed this number, and I still can't believe it] I did some internet-math, and I checked Monday night’s episode I had DVR’ed – he said (mumbled?) approximately 30 words, which is probably about average amount for his character each episode. That comes out to about $10,000.00/word. At that rate, his co-stars Ashton and Jon should be making approx. $35 million/episode – each. I want to hire Angus’ agent – he/she is an Einstein-level genius. All the best to you Angus – you rock! CBS – you are a kind and generous company…bless you.
They just need to bury it. Ashton Kutcher is no actor. He never has been. I don’t even bother watching it. I tried a couple times and just couldn’t. Never liked him in the 70′s program either is probably why.
It was always a little to crude for me for television but now it is even worse. That is the other reason I won’t watch it.
Bury it and let it go.
Zoey is completely annoying, and I am not watching anymore. Kutcher is ok, but cryer makes the show now that sheen is gone. Couldnt handle zoey’s character anymore.
who is zoey, on the show, its been so long since I have watched
I truly believe that show has done alot better without charlie sheen who needs an acoholic/drug head bringing everyone else down and as for ashton kutcher I love his personality he has spiced things up on the show way to ashton good job keep up the good work!!!
Its better they end show because its not the same without charlie sheen. Charlie sheen is the one who actually made the show. Ashton kutcher sucks.
Cancel the show…nobody watches it anyway since Charlie left. Ashton and his character are pathetic!
