EXCLUSIVE: Working Title and Edgar Wright have set a September start date for The World’s End, the last in a trilogy of comedies that started with Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz. Wright, who’ll direct, wrote the script with Simon Pegg. Once again, Pegg stars with Nick Frost. Universal Pictures hasn’t yet green lit the film, but is expected to after the modestly budgeted pair of comedies grossed $108 million worldwide between them. The plan is for The World’s End to reach theaters in spring, 2013.
The logline: 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King, a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.
The film is produced by Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, and Nira Park of Big Talk Productions. Wright, who last directed Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, is separately adapting the series The Night Stalker for Disney as a star vehicle for Johnny Depp. Wright’s repped by CAA, Independent Talent Group and Anonymous Content.

Damn. I’ve been doing field research on a pub crawl movie for years now. And here Edgar beats me to the punch.
Anything Wright/Pegg/Frost related is always fantastic, but I’m guessing that this makes the chances of Ant-Man being Marvel’s other 2014 film pretty slim.
Most definitely. I’m guessing this will probably be released early 2014.
Seems like the most likely film to be Marvel’s second 2014 project is Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s the one Feige has talked about the most lately and he’s been wanting to take the Cinematic Marvel universe cosmic for a while. They’ll probably plant seeds for Avengers 2 in that film too considering the mid-credit scene for the first film.
If it’s not Guardians, second best guess is Doctor Strange. But there hasn’t been much talk or development on that lately.
No not really. Since Ant-Man is estimated to be a 2014 release date so it won’t shoot till 2013.
Didn’t think of that. Unfortunately, that’s very true.
Woohoo fantastic news!
This is great news. When Wright, Pegg & Frost team up, the result is always fried gold. Go get ‘em, boys!
Best news I’ve heard all day. Universal better greenlight this.
My head just exploded from all the excited feelings! Wright, Pegg and Frost are my heroes.
Any chance this will be funny, unlike their other films?
I’m a big fan of Edgar Wright. He deserves more box office success then he gets. Hope it all comes together for him.
Saying Shaun of the dead and hot fuzz aren’t funny is just factually incorrect.
I’m with you on that one.
Liked Shaun…Loved Hot Fuzz (I am probably one of the few who liked Hot Fuzz more than SOTD)…so yeah this is awesome news. Anytime you get Wright/Pegg/Frost together funny things happen
Edgar wright, i cant wait for this. Thanks eddy…. Theddy.
Cant wait for this ….
I’ve heard such rumours of a third part to this legacy, never for a second did I believe such greatness could occur, I am overjoyed with this news. Infact I am so pleases with this news I shall dance, I shall dance a dance of happiness, of joy and of pleasure. Praise thy lord, praise thy lord Edgar Wright, praise thy Sir Pegg and thy Sir Frost. Praise thee for thou greatness.
I really hope Jessica Stevenson is in this. I’ve missed her since Spaced and she wasn’t in Shaun of thr Dead much. She hardly ever gets credit for Spaced when it was her and Simon’s baby and everyone acts like it was Nick Frost’s! Bleh
