EXCLUSIVE: YRF Entertainment CEO Uday Chopra has joined with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam and his Stone Angels to produce and finance Grace Of Monaco, the Olivier Dahan-directed film that will star Nicole Kidman. The film begins production in the fall and Inferno is selling foreign rights in Cannes. YRF’s Jonathan Reiman becomes exec producer with Arash Amel, who wrote the script. In the film, the former actress Grace Kelly (Kidman) asserts herself as the Princess of Monaco when she brokers peace between her adopted country and France, maneuvering a political minefield to do it. YRF Entertainment is the Beverly Hills-based production and financing company that is a subsidiary of Indian studio Yash Raj Films, and its focus is English-language films with global appeal.
“Grace Of Monaco is the kind of movie that has a perfect blend of talent and sensibility that YRF Entertainment is proud to be a part of,” Chopra said. “We look forward to a great partnership with Olivier and Pierre-Ange.”
Said Le Pogam: “When I first read the script written by Arash Amel, I thought it was a great story to tell, with a lot of artistic, historical and emotional potential. This is why I invited Olivier Dahan to become the director because he has this artistic vision. When Olivier and myself met with Nicole Kidman for the first time, we felt immediately she was the right artist to portray Princess Grace. When I then met with Uday, I had the same feeling after our conversation. He was obviously the right partner because of his beautiful vision of the movie. We are very proud and enthusiast to be sharing the experience of working together with YRF.”
CAA packaged the film and is repping domestic distribution rights.
YRF Entertainment is currently in post-production on the Peter Glanz-directed comedy The Longest Week, starring Jason Bateman, Olivia Wilde and Billy Crudup.
Le Pogam’s Paris-based Stone Angels is distributing the David Cronenberg-directed Cosmopolis in France, which is in competition at Cannes, and coproduced and is distributing the Nabil Ayouch-directed Horses of God, which is playing in Un Certain Regard.

Well, i’m still pretty disappointed that this woman bagged the title role on this film. I’m sure there are plenty other actresses who fits more to the role.
I for one think that Nicole is an actor’s actor and has the chops and ability to play this role. She always brings a certain level of class and old school hollywood glamour and this movie will showcase it.
Oh absolutely. Plenty of. Le Pogam and Oliver Danahm went to USA, saw 23 actresses and thought none was good. Then they saw Nicole Kidman and though she was perfect for playing Grace Kelly. So, Nicole Kidman is the actress that fits the role more than anyone else. Deal with it. What is this hate against Nicole? She’s a terrific actress and she’ll do a wonderfu job. Wait and see before judge.
Absolutely she is very talented actress and she will do total justice to the role and makers seems to be artistic and they have chosen right actress to portray the role.
After an Oscar nod for an outstanding performance, several prestigious projects in the can and on deck, looks like Kidman is back. Maybe not like she was in 2001/2002, but we’re not likely to see any actress hit that kind of commercial/artistic high anytime soon.
BTW, that picture of Kidman looks like it’s a good eight years old.
More like 8 weeks or so : http://www.imdb.com/media/rm994752256/rg576297472
She will nail this role for sure, I just hope the film will be more like ‘The Queen’ quality-wise…I really don’t need another ‘The Iron Lady’ a.k.a. a biopic that lets down its terrific lead.
By the way, early-hunch top5 for Best Actress ?
Around this time, you usually have at least 3 down. Linney, Knightley, Mulligan ?
Are you kidding? Kidman is perfect for the role. She’s also one of the nicest people to work with in town. They could have chosen other actresses I’m sure, but I love the idea. She’ll be great and will bag another Oscar nomination.
Nicole Kidman is a beautiful actress and a beautiful woman. Go crazy and try being nice…put some positive energy into this world and into this business.
Wait, YRF CEO “Uday Chopra”. What the? The guy barely cut it as an actor.
Ha! You are absolutely correct about him. But Indians are bringing bags of money and Hollywood is accepting with open arms.
I like Uday as an actor. He is a good comedian. His films are light hearted and fun to watch.
I think Charlize Theron would have been a much better choice. Kidman has a very unique look. But Theron as the acting chops and looks more similar to Kelly as well.
I agree–Charlize would have been perfect in terms of looks–she’s also an intelligent actress.
I think Elizabeth Banks is another one who hasn’t really had the opportunity to shine properly and who could have really surprised if she had received this role. She was one of the best things from The Hunger Games.
Grace Kelly was fire and ice at an inacessible but warm and inviting temperature. So is Kidman. She’ll do it her own way and she will be excellent. Is it me or does Tom Cruise look like Nicole Kidman fifteen years ago in the latest issue of “W” – with tattoos? It looks like he hired her make-up artist from “Nine” to do his mascara. The lay-out’s a little creepy. I would have rather seen the women from “Rock of Ages.”
You are crazy, Kidman is the perfect choice. Interesting that after playing a Grace in “The Others” & “Dogville”, she will play a real Grace. I’m sure she will knock it out of the park.
