I wish there could be 9 nominees in the LEAD ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES category…I wish Kerry Washington could be one of them.
Unfortunately I feel Mireille Enos won’t make it, although her work on the second season of ‘The Killing’ was just as spectacular or even more so, than on the first season. Voters probably won’t take ‘Revenge’ seriously, either, although the female lead performances are remarkable; and as edgy as they might think they are, Emmy Rossum’s character probably won’t resonate with them enough to nominate her. That leaves :
Claire Danes (Homeland)
Julianna Margulies (The Good Wife)
Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men)
Glenn Close (Damages)
Michelle Dockery (Downton Abbey)
Kerry Washington (Scandal)
Danes, Margulies and Moss are locks; Close should be one, but apparently is not, meanwhile my dream nominees are the criminally underrated Dockery and Washington.
Stupid question – Kerry W. is announcing the nominations, but she can still be nominated herself right? I think she’s one of the most underrated actresses working today – it’s a shame.
Perfect opportunity for worldwide presentation of the Ron Swanson Pyramid of Greatness. (Also I hope that Offerman has to announce himself. It would be fitting. And that Tammy 1 Patricia Clarkson gets a guest comedy nom.)
They don’t read the supporting categories so if he’s nominated, the president will have to tell him as an aside like when Sofia Vergara read the nominees a couple yrs ago.
I wish Kerry had a shot at a nom. She was quite fabulous in Scandal. The park bench takedown scene alone was Emmy worthy.
Madeleine Stowe and Emily Van Camp both deserve noms.
