Soul Man could’ve done better in the ratings, but TV networks are still clueless on how to accurately market to African-Americans.
Too bad most TV networks dont know how to market to minorities
I watched The Soul Man last night. It was good but not as good as Tyler Perry’s shows, House of Payne and Meet the Browns. Also not as good as The Jeffersons or Good Times, other comedies that I watch on TV1. That said, I will keep watching Soul Man. It was good enough to make my keeper list. Haven’t seen Baby Daddy yet, but have it recorded. Will watch it before the NBA Finals start tonight. And I did see a show called The Exes that was fall on the floor hilarious last night. I plan on watching that one every week as well.
House of Payne and Meet the Browns are good? Really? We must be watching two entirely different shows.
I thought that it was significantly better than the pilot episodes for House of Payne and Meet the Browns, personally.
A Tyler Perry show is funnier than one with Cedric the Entertainer. In what dimension? Earth 2? Because I’ve never laughed at anything Tyler Perry ever did and I know I laughed at leaast once or twice
last night
Baby Daddy was so awful. I get the whole Three Men and a baby theme but the acting, script and direction could not have be worse. Writer’s complain about reality TV taking over. Well if this is what you do with scripted TV I’ll go back to watching reality.
Isn’t this just a re-vamped AMEN (via Sherman Hemsley)?
Im enjoying the traditional sitcom resurgence in basic cable; I liked Baby Daddy’s debut, regularly watch Melissa & Joey, and, as mentioned by another commenter, The Exes on TV Land is a really funny show.
I thought Baby Daddy was pretty solid. Kudos for ABC Family for bringing comedy to their network and finally a show that men can watch, too!
Obvious ABC Family plant is obvious.
Just watched Soul Man but couldn’t stand it. I love most of the TV land shows but this one does nothing for me, not even a little smile. I will not follow the rest of it to see if it gets better because i don’t see a future for this show.
I love soul man, it is a great family show for all ages (that should be up at 10pm) very refreshing to see tasteful black comedy these days.
