A September premiere date has been announced for A&E Network’s Coma. The four-hour epic thriller from Ridley and Tony Scott is about a young doctor (Lauren Ambrose) who discovers that something sinister is going on in her hospital after routine procedures send more than a few seemingly healthy patients into comas on the operating table. It’s a modern retelling of the bestselling novel by Robin Cook and based on the film by Michael Crichton.
In addition to Ambrose (Six Feet Under) it features a multiple Academy Award and Emmy Award-winning cast, including Steven Pasquale (Rescue Me), Geena Davis, James Woods, Ellen Burstyn and Richard Dreyfuss. It premieres Monday, September 3 and concludes Tuesday, September 4, airing at 9 PM on both nights. Coma is produced by Sony Pictures Television for A&E Network.

Wasn’t “Coma” already retold as “The Island”?
Coma? Same Time Last Year? The lack of imagination just keeps on rolling and I wanted to post just in case people don’t know YOU CAN COME UP WITH NEW IDEAS!. Just a thought.
You may get your wish… with a running time of four hours and an organ-theft premise that has been around the block many, many times since the original came out, it’s hard to see how they could hope to get this off the ground without some radical expansion.
Are they going to get Tom Selleck to reprise his role from the “Coma” film?
Lauren Ambrose is a brilliant actor (and singer!) and I genuinely wish her well.
