Phase 4 Films has acquired all North American rights to The Baytown Outlaws, the Billy Bob Thornton and Eva Longoria action comedy that had been called The Baytown Disco. The plan is to release the film theatrically early next year. Barry Battles directed his 2009 Black List script (co-written with Griffin Hood) about three ruthless Alabama brothers who find themselves on the wrong side a crazy cast of characters as colorful as they are lethal when the trio finally tries to do a single good deed. The deal was negotiated by Phase 4’s Larry Greenberg and Katharyn Howe with WME Global on behalf of the filmmakers. Highland Film Group is handling international sales.

Just saw this movie last month. If they get it out there. They will come. Lots of fun. “nooooo, hell no!”
Saw this movie in Cannes. A great trailer but otherwise a bust. Not even the appearance of Eva Longoria beforehand (Note to those who have never met her in the flesh: Oh yes. She is. Definitely.) could whip up enough enthusiasm to overcome the plodding and often far too talky narrative, which never really develops any of its threads. EL and BBT make essentially extended cameo appearances, too. High hopes dashed, here.
Is Eva done something she promised never to do on screen,Ripsnorter?
She was a true professional, zeddy, turned up in the searing heat of the market screening wearing little more than the stunning legs that carry her, told a couple of fun anecdotes about working on the film. Sadly, there is so little of her in the thing, as with BBT.
I loved this film! Funny and exciting – a roller coaster ride. The audience at the screening I saw was laughing a lot and really into it.
phase 4 means while it will get a few screens it’s basically going straight to dvd
