Yahoo today launched a new online-only satirical series executive produced by Ben Stiller. Written by Erica Oyama, Burning Love is a spoof of that horrendous show The Bachelor and features a bunch of well-known actors like Kristen Bell, Ken Jeong, Malin Akerman, and Michael Ian Black as well as Stiller himself (briefly) and star/director Ken Marino. It’ll be interesting to see what more established talent will partner with Yahoo on digital entertainment:

This is simply brilliant. I truly Laughed Out Loud
Go Marino! This cast is so good!
It will be interesting to see how this kind of work will develop. Appears to be a funny parody. Unfortunate that many of the crew were paid well under acceptable rates.
hilarious. here’s to hoping they actually pull off the “party down” movie, if only for the sake of seeing ken marino’s funny, tragic, and heartbreakingly poignant ron donald on the screen again.
This was hilarious. . . but he asked for an ethnic girl! There wasn’t one ethnic female actor they could have found? I guess it’s like the real Bachelor.
Satirizing a reality show is like making a parody of a musical. Am a fan of Ben Stiller, but one would think, with all his power and access to talent, he’d take the satire to a higher level and actually tell us something insightful about our culture other than showing us how silly reality shows are. I think most reality show viewers are slightly if not fully aware of how junky the shows are. Stiller satirized the modeling world pretty well in Zoolander, and, if my memory serves me, he did some great stuff on his old show years ago. This, however, feels too easy, and thus falls a little on its feet. For instance, you can almost hear some over-worked, under-paid writer in a writer’s room shouting out: “Wouldn’t it be hilarious if one of the contestants showed up without pants on?”
I don’t know. Could work wonderfully as a sketch, but as a show? Don’t know. Maybe this teaser doesn’t do it justice.
Normally these things sometime seem far too “personally humorous” but this one is actually done really well.
From someone who’s probably watched 5 episodes of “The Bachelor” it seems either the same things happen each season or I’ve seen the same 5 Marino pulled from.
Either way, while I won’t be lining up for any “The Bachelor” viewings, I’ll pay attention to this.
That might have literally been the most unfunny thing I have seen in many many years. The fact is, we are all now dumber for having watched it. What a pathetic excuse for comedy. I blame this on Funny or Die, a website home the lamest no-talent sketches from the already has-been ‘comedic’ actors that continually partner with Judd Apatow and produce crapfest after crapfest of the same lame and tired jokes. Is this really what passes for comedy today? As if parodying a ridiculous show like The Bachelor takes ANY talent whatsoever. Oh look, it’s that unfunny asian dork from The Hangover. And he’s in drag. HAhahahaha………… not.
Really is just plain pathetic. Seriously. LAME.
Wow…couldnt disagree more…you are like the “whats funny” anti chamber.
What, pray tell< do you think is funny?
If you knew your comedy a little better, you would know that most of these guys are mostly tangentially related to Judd Apatow. Ken Marino and Michael Ian Black were part of the State. Kristen Bell, Ken Jeong were involved with Marino in Party Down. Malin Akerman is a co-star of Childrens Hospital, a show that’s handled by Jonathan Stern (also credited here) and had a few episodes written by Erica Oyama, who’s Marino’s wife and wrote Burning Love.
Actually, apart from Ben Stiller’s cameo and his name in the credits, the show carries more of the State pedigree and has an Adult Swim live action vibe, given that Stern also produces Childrens Hospital and NTSF:SD:SUV:: for quite cheap.
Hilarious! Loved it…will definitely watch!
The Bachelor is my guilty pleasure… and I am so excited about this! I will watch every episode!
I’m confused, how’s that a satire?
It’s amazing what kind of content can make with the ability to call upon A list actors and the backing of Principato Young & Yahoo.
If you don’t find the old woman hilarious then there’s something wrong with you. This show is brilliantly written and a near-perfect parody of the trash that gets green-lit on account of low overhead. I can’t wait for the other episodes.
Making fun of The Bachelor, that’s hard. Set the bar a little higher. Funniest part was the Ben Stiller beginning. The rest was sketch material that would get rejected on Saturday Night Live.
This clip is mildly amusing, but the real Bachelor is already so over the top, one has to be a lot cleverer to effectively spoof it. All the jabs are pretty obvious – the Cougar, the Crazy, etc. It’s nothing really new.
good grief. airheads satirizing airheads.
Love that the ferbie woman is Jennifer Aniston… could peg her voice a mile and a half a way and it makes sense since she was in Wanderlust with Marino.
Some chuckles but–and I’m shocked to be saying this–David Spade’s one-off Bachelor spoof was much stronger.
It’s funny, but it’s 15 seasons too late? 20 seasons? Is a spoof of Survivor next? Seems like a little tired of an idea.
This started out slow, but by the time the insane tease for the upcoming season spiraled out of of control I was laughing out loud. PLEASE let the preview be real…
Was that Jennifer Aniston as the Panda? Awesome
I thought it was pretty funny. Really liked Marino on “Party Down”. Good to see Natasha Leggero too.
Had my laughing out loud at work (lolaw). Funny. Funny. And to the poster that wrote the parady is too late – somehow I forgot the bachelor was still on until the other day. So I thought timing is spot on.
