BREAKING…. Benjamin Walker has nabbed the co-lead of Legendary Pictures’ The Great Wall, the Ed Zwick period adventure movie that already stars Man Of Steel‘s Henry Cavill. Deadline previously told you that Walker, repped by WME and Inspire, was in the running for the part with True Blood‘s Alexander Skarsgard. Walker next appears as the hero in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The Great Wall, set in 15th century China, is about British warriors who happen upon the hurried construction of the massive wall. As night falls, the warriors realize that the haste in building the wall isn’t just to keep out the Mongols — there is something inhuman and more dangerous. The picture, based on an idea by Legendary CEO Thomas Tull and Max Brooks, is being made through the Hong Kong-based Legendary East.

Monsters in China? Oh yeah, this’ll do well.
Exactly. Yawwwwwwwn! Two actors who no one in the world outside Hollywood even knows. Anyone want to put money down on this movie really ever getting made? And as much as I love Ben, his Abe movie is most likely going to be one of the bigger disappointments of the summer.
Hey, middle America here and I know who both of them are.
Hey Middle America, LA here and you are in the minority, the VAST minority.
If you’re posting on Deadline you’re not really “Middle America”
Marco Polo: Zombie Hunter.
Fail.
Him over Skarsgard?? WTF…someone’s smoking too much dope…wrong choice…
I’m confused about what Skarsy is doing with his career. He’s making a lot poor choices and as much as I love him he’s going to bury himself before he has a chance to get started.
Somebody, anybody, help the man. It’s what you’re being paid for.
Skarsgard wouldn’t have the time to shoot this movie and True Blood at the same time, anyway. Maybe the show it’s starting to hold him back a little.
