The premiere of Lifetime‘s new reality series Bristol Palin: Life’s A Tripp last night drew an underwhelming 726,000 total viewers and 254,000 adults 18-49. The series starring Sarah Palin’s daughter, which aired against MTV hit Teen Mom, fell dramatically from its lead-in, Dance Moms, which delivered 1.8 million total viewers and 992,000 18-49s. Life’s A Tripp, which had received mostly negative reviews, also was well below the debut of the Lifetime’s now-defunct Roseanne Barr docureality series Roseanne’s Nuts, which opened with 1.6 million total viewers and 863,000 adults 18-49 before falling off precipitously in subsequent airings.

Only had to read the headline – not surprised, and thank God!
This one was pretty much a no-brainer.
As is the “star”
Never saw it, but face facts: it’s the idiots who thought her life would be compelling TV that failed, and not the Palin daughter. If some dope wanted to make a show about your life, would you stop and wonder “is that a show?” Or would you take the money and run?
But… she’s so fascinating!
Yeah, she’s as fascinating as she was on Dancing With The Stars. She oozes personality and class…it’s just all bad and her class is kindergarten.
My goodness, I hope you’re just being sarcastic.
One of the benefits from the Bizarro world intersecting with reality….
These numbers are still better than almost anything on CNN…think about it.
It’s the internet age, no one watches the 24-hour news channels except for older folks still stuck to the TV.
DUH!
It bombed? Duh. Who would have guessed. I’d love to pitch a concept to the backers of the show; if they’ll ever admit they’re responsible for it. On second thought, forget it. It’s too good. Chances are they wouldn’t grasp what ‘good’ is.
This makes me extremely happy.
Really? You are in desperate need of a hobby.
So Bristol’s show beat CNN and MSNBC combined in the same time slot, yet according to this site it bombed
Only in Hollywood…LOL
When you lose over a Million viewers that watched the previous show before yours aired that is an utter failure. Beating CNN and MSNBC isn’t hard to do, hell, there’s a number of Youtube videos that can do that.
Clearly, LOL, you have no clue about ratings for either CNN nor MSNBC. Priceless.
you can’t compare reality show ratings with news ratings. when it comes to reality shows on cable, which is what Palin’s show is, it bombed compared to that of similar programming. regardless, this site has often reported the underwhelming numbers over at both MSNBC and CNN, so I’m not even sure what your point is.
But when will this entire family vanish off the media radar? I now hear the father is going to be in a reality show as well.
Hopefully the same fate.
Wow! Sounds like it could be a hit show on MSNBC or Current.
Oh so happy with this news. There is actually a limit to the level of America’s bad taste for reality shows.
Lifetime sucks. They have no clue what they’re doing, no idea who they are. They put the worst crap on the air. This is karma to them for even getting in business with a Palin. Hopefully someone with some actually sensibility will take over that network soon and start producing decent TV.
From the network that’s also giving Lindsay Lohan her 203rd-235th chances…
A shame this show happened. Bristol could have shown the world and her child that she was better for more than just bending over for jocks. She chose to try for fast & easy money.
Bombed or not, the fact that 700,000 plus human beings tuned in is one of the sadder things I’ve learned in a long time.
Took the words out of my mouth. Who are these 726,000 idiots?
my guess is partly those who fell asleep during a previous show and most of the rest people who just tuned in to see how bad it actually would be.
To be fair, you have to consider that some people watching the show had actually fallen asleep with the tv on. It was at 10PM after all.
Even the brain dead audience that watched “Dance Moms” turned this off.
Could it be that American has finally grown tired of hearing he Palins whine about media intrusion while at the same time engaging in constant self promotion? One can hope.
Here’s a thought, Bristol, spend less time in the spotlight and try to be the best mom you can. Go back to school. Get a job. Find a job. You know, like the rest of us struggle to do.
What was the point of the show? Teens don’t watch Lifetime and the Adult mothers who do don’t want to hear the struggles of a rich-kid Teen Mom when their husbands are off at war or out of work. Teen Mom was great before the girls turned into rich adults (like Palin) and MTV was smart enough to give them the boot after this season. Lifetime needs to remember who their audience is, Middle America Moms. Why would this appeal to them? Or ANYONE!
Looks like karma for cutting the talented Massey brothers out and trying to pocket all the money herself…
Well I think she actually did better than that TRAIN-WRECK Paris Hilton show last year.
But dropping a million viewers from your lead-in is NOT good.
Its too bad the producer didn’t keep the Disney star Kyle Massey and his brother Chris Massey’s original idea for a show with Bristol. I watched the show and she seems like a nice girl but needed the Masseys to liven things up.
Sarah Palin Alaska was fun and fast moving, this show was rather slow but I could see her living with the Masseys and having them show her around. But I guess we will not get that show and I bet she wishes they were there with her.
It was a disaster waiting to happen. A careless teen gets pregnant and pursues the spotlight she never had. No one told her the difference between her mother being Infamous rather than Famous? She tried to ride a wave that crashed on the shores of ’15 Mins Of Fame’ four years ago. What a great lesson to teach her son. Forget education and self-betterment and go for cash snatch and grabs. Hard to believe that Levi Johnston lucked out in any capacity but not marrying this fame hungry dullard was a blessing. A teen mom, plastic surgery and self exploitation on reality tv. Nice job parenting Sarah!
This is more than just a lame and boring display by a grifting daughter of divisive politician. In an attempt construct some sort of interest where there is none, Bristol is painting her son’s father as a deadbeat dad. This is the main theme of this awful un-reality show. Yet, according to the father, he has made numerous attempts to access his son and has been denied his court ordered rights for months. The Palins claim that Levi Johnston has not paid the $20,000 child support makes him a deadbeat dad. Really? This is a guy in his early 20′s, as of yet no GED, and little prospect of maintaining that level of child support. He gained monetarily initially from the Palin exploitation (Playgirl, tabloids) but those opportunities have all dried up, or he is not seeking them (a good thing!). Besides, does anyone really think that Bristol is in dire straights caring for their child? I strongly believe dads should support their children and that Levi needs to go back to court to adjust his payments, but this is no reason to prevent a relationship between a father and his son. Yet, that is what this show and the Lifetime network are supporting. It is a false narrative and abusive, particularly to this adorable little boy. I will not watch this garbage because, to me, ithis is child abuse.
Amen and right on.
GEE…what a surprise we have here…a reality show that tanked for which nobody gave a damn about and was destined for failure from the start…if Lifetime is smart, they cancel it right now.
If there was a god, I would thank him.
I’d tell her her 15 minutes is almost up but I’m guessing Andy Warhol’s a part of the “lamestream media.”
Nikki so great that you put a story about Bristol Palin right after a story about a documentary on people being famous for no reason.
