NASHVILLE (June 4, 2012) – Creative Artists Agency (CAA), the world’s leading entertainment and sports agency, today celebrates the opening of its new office in downtown Nashville. The move into the 23,000-square-foot penthouse space in the SunTrust Building, located next door to the historic Ryman Auditorium, brings the agency’s Nashville operations, led by John Huie and Rod Essig, along with Scott Clayton, Marc Dennis, and Darin Murphy, to the core of the city’s music scene. As part of the evening’s festivities, CAA will host an open house for guests at its 20th annual summer BBQ benefiting The PENCIL Foundation, a local organization connecting community and business leaders with Metro Nashville Public Schools.
CAA’s relocation is driven by the continued growth of the agency’s music business and the expansion of its client service areas, including marketing, sponsorship, and digital media. In late 2011, CAA was named “Agency Of The Year” by Billboard magazine for the sixth time in eight years, and in January was named “Booking Agency Of The Year” by Pollstar magazine for the tenth consecutive year.
Ron Baird established CAA’s Nashville operations out of his home in 1991, marking the agency’s first office outside of its Los Angeles headquarters. Joined by Huie later in the year, the two moved to Music Row. With the arrival of Essig in 1993, they settled into an office on West End Avenue, CAA’s home for the past 19 years. The company now has offices in New York, London, Beijing, and many other locations in the U.S. and worldwide.

Providing ever more resources and opportunities for our clients is the cornerstone of our business, and with our growth, we have been able to do just that,” said CAA’s head of music and managing partner, Rob Light. “It is particularly meaningful for us to have John and Rod, together with Scott, Marc, and Darin, lead us into our next chapter. I know they all join me and our Nashville family in celebrating CAA’s move to the hub of this dynamic city.”
As part of CAA’s long-standing involvement with The PENCIL Foundation, the agency and its employees have partnered with local Nashville schools to provide volunteers and resources to students in need. Currently, more than a dozen CAA employees volunteer in weekly tutoring and mentoring sessions at Whitsitt Elementary, and the CAA Foundation helps support the school’s art and music programs, conducts an adopt-a-family program during the holiday season, and assembles and distributes “Back To School Bags,” backpacks filled with school supplies, to students at the beginning of each school year. In recognition of the agency’s efforts, Whitsitt renamed its library the CAA Media Center. Monday’s benefit encourages all attendees to donate school supplies for underserved students.
