CBS said it has ordered Draw Something, an unscripted pilot based on Zynga’s game, which counts some 100 million US players. The project is executive produced by Ryan Seacrest and Michael Davies. Per the network: “Each week, teams of celebrities and everyday users will test their skills in front of a studio audience to earn money and big laughs. Viewers can also play along at home for a chance to win prizes and compete with the celebrities.” Embassy Row, Ryan Seacrest Prods. and Sony Pictures TV are producing, with Adam Sher exec producing alongside Seacrest and Davies. CBS has brought hit digital properties to primetime before. Its comedy series $#*! My Dad Says was based on a popular Twitter feed.

Is CBS aware that people left this game in droves, and those that remain are really into the Ignore Hitler meme for the game?
Reality pilot? Didn’t they use to call these game shows?
Sounds just like Win, Lose, or Draw. Too bad Bert Convy’s dead, but I hear Vicki Lawrence is available.
Wow… So basically they are reviving Win, Lose Or Draw… How compellingly original !!
considering everyone i know who played this game have already moved on to something else, it looks like CBS is right on time to this party.
So…. you mean they’re rebooting “Win Lose or Draw” with a new name?
Win, Lose, or Draw! That’s it. Exactly. I was thinking it was called Pictionary after the board game, but you’re right, it’s WLD.
Its a game show. Producers have to stop calling game shows “reality shows”
To be even more accurate, the Writers Guild of America refers to what you call game shows as “Audience Participation Programming.” I know as I have written for a number of them. DG
Yeah this game had very little shelf life. Nobody plays it anymore… it was cool for like a week.
The ZYNGA game I wanna see on tv is WORDS WITH FRIENDS
Will this show crash my TV like the mobile version did? Will I need to continuously reboot my TV? just another show I’m not going to watch.
DIdn’t PICTIONARY already FAIL as a GAME SHOW?
CBS first fails to pick up The Cube, and now they’re looking at Draw Something?
Welp.
Tomorrow ABC will pick up pictionary and then these networks will sue each other over copyright
CBS has some real morons in charge of reality. Yes Survivor, Amazing Race and Big Brother are still quasi-franchises but the execs who brought in those properties departed years ago. The department is now run by the geniuses who brought you KidNation and that hideous pirate show.
Shhhhhhhh…. Did you hear that… I just heard a huge flopping noise!
Do they require FB account to watch?
I enjoy how on the internet if somebody doesn’t do something that means “nobody” does it. Sorry, but I still play Draw Something everyday. Everybody I know plays it everyday. I have no problem finding games anytime I want, 24 hours a day. So sorry, just because you don’t like something, that doesn’t mean you’re opinion is the only one. haha
Missing the real story here — this is a huge win for Zynga and the company as they get the ultimate in incremental merchandising by selling rights to TV and Movies(See Dreamworks deal). This will likely be a success given the horsepower doing the production work. You guys are making a mistake… you don’t have to play this game to watch the show, and the launch of the show will create more players.
