EXCLUSIVE: Dylan Clark, who three years ago transitioned from an exec veep post at Universal Pictures to become president of the film division of Chernin Entertainment, is in the process of transitioning out of that post to produce films for Peter Chernin’s shingle.
Clark has been in the center of Chernin’s big film productions, including Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes and the upcoming sequel, and most recently Oblivion, the Joseph Kosinski-directed science fiction film that Tom Cruise stars in and which has been shooting in Baton Rouge. I’m told that his exit strategy is a work in progress, and that Clark, who wanted to focus on producing, will be likely producing numerous Chernin films going forward. Those pictures might include the untitled Paul Feig-directed comedy with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, and the Rise Of The Apes sequel. Chernin will likely bring in another executive to run development before Clark’s contract expires in the fall.

A producing deal with the producer you already work for? Doesn’t smell right, Jenno must of killed him off.
jenno can’t have killed him off if they’re intending to replace him with someone that will still come in above her.
Wow this is sudden and really speaks to the incompetence and disarray at the heart of this company, which weirdly has the power to horn themselves into big movie and TV projects at will. It’s going to become apparent tjis year just how insanely lucky these guts were with New Girl and Apes–I predict many years of stagnation before Peter (who is creatively inept but business-savvy) goes back to being a mogul.
Truly one the great and most talented execs and producers in the business, and will obviously succeed at this next phase. 500M and great reviews on the first movie (APES) was, I guess, a reasonably good result. He is a star that will get many offers as a free agent. He just may actually want to produce.
maybe what killed him off is that the part of the company he was responsible for hasn’t done shit in 3 years (except for one film that fox gave them) while Katherine Pope is killing it on the TV side.
simply one of the best people in the business-honest-smart and caring-certainly wish him the besr
besr=best
Dylan’s a total class act and a great person. He’ll do well with whatever he does.
Dylan is charming and smart and decent. People will want him to succeed.
